Because there are legions of Christians in this country, they don't need to hide who they are. Tebow hasn't been persecuted and forced to live a lie, hasn't felt the hatred that irrational people have because some words in a book that have been translated dozens of times, cherry picked by the people in power to include the words they want and in all likelihood lost their original meaning. If Christians followed the advice in the book they say they so adhere to, there wouldn't be an issue. Take out the ridiculous advice in Leviticus and just love one's fellow human beings. I really don't think that Jesus would care if someone is gay or not, it is people's fear that drives them to hatred.

Unfortunately this isn't true as legions of religious people testify to. Someday we will evolve socially and move forward, but not until people let go of fear and hatred.

ReplyI am thrilled with the blue trees. It has made me take notice again of what is normally just background scenery. As for the "paint" it isn't paint. It is pigments, like you would find in cave paintings and water. Change is never easy but it is good for the most part. If you don't like the trees, duly noted, but at least you are talking about them, which was ultimately the point.

It is actually "riddance". I hope you find tolerance and peace for all people which is what Christian faith is about.

Way to go JL. "they are wonderful people who deserve all the opportunities that others are given." This is the core issue that unfortunately the overly religious seem to miss out on the message that Jesus was supposed to be promoting. Everyone is HUMAN, black, white, gay, straight, Asian, rich or poor. The message of tolerance has been lost in a fervor of misplaced righteousness and what people see as an attack on their faith. No one is attacking Christian faith by removing public funding to schools that practice exclusion. Those schools are welcome to their faith, no matter how misguided it may be, it is their right to believe that nonsense. Just like Pastafarians who believe in the Flying Sphagetti Monster. But do expect public funding if you make it a point to say that you are going to practice bigotry.

I couldn't agree with you more John B but as people have written they are linking this to the downfall of our society and how bad the president is and blah blah blah. I long for the day when we all accept each other as we are and not as we wish them to be. Then it will truly be a non-issue. Until then, the fight for equality is not yet done.
