The City of Norcross hosted a Ceremony of Remembrance on Sunday in honor of the September 11 victims. The ceremony included a presentation by the Norcross High School Brass Ensemble and Color Guard, as well as speeches by Norcross Police Chief Dallas Stidd, and Mayor Bucky Johnson.

Mustangs fell behind early and couldn't come back in loss.
The Berkmar Patriots defeated the Meadowcreek Mustangs 31-8 Friday at Meadowcreek in a game that was filled with penalties. The Patriots used a fumble recovery that led to an offensive touchdown and an interception return for another TD to build a 13-0 lead. A sack of Berkmar's quarterback for a safety made it 13-2 at halftime. Berkmar poured in on in the second half to improve to 1-1. Meadwocreek, which lost starting quarterback Patrick Mills to a serious ankle injury, fell to 0-2 and lost its 30th consecutive game. Berkmar plays Central Gwinnett at home next week. Meadowcreek hosts Wheeler of Cobb County.

Each week we'll focus our camera lens on popular places and events in and around Norcross.
Amelia Earhart, famous pilot and Amelia Watson, Norcross High School student both have something in common besides their first names. They are both pioneer women. Where Earhart earned recognition as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Watson has earned recognition in founding the race to raise funds to benefit the track and field program at her high school. Amelia Watson, daughter of Cliff Watson and Sonja Rasmussen, began her running career about the age of four and has been running ever since. As a high school junior, she foresaw the need to raise funds for the cross country, track and field programs so she ran with the idea.
