What Do You Think About the Need to Secede?

Some residents of Georgia and other states have filed petitions to secede from the U.S.

Some residents of Georgia and more than a dozen other states have filed petitions to secede from the United States, according to media reports. Residents of Alabama, New York, Michigan, Texas and other states have filed the petitions under the "We The People" program, featured on the White House website, according to the Huffington Post. The Georgia petition, which already has more than 25,000 signatures, reads in part: "...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..." Norcross Voters: Precinct-by-Precinct Breakdown

Check out which 2012 presidential candidate dominated at these Norcross precincts.

The 2012 presidential election for Norcross differed greatly from the 2008 presidential election. In the John McCain-Barack Obama race, four of Norcross' 12 precincts voted for McCain. This year, all the precincts voted for Obama. These Norcross numbers differ from the rest of Gwinnett County, too, whose majority went to Gov. Mitt Romney. Out of 295,560 total votes for Gwinnett, Romney had 159,563 people vote for him, giving him 54 percent of the vote, while Obama received 131,879 votes and 45 percent. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 4,118 votes, or 1 percent for Gwinnett.  Who had the most Democratic votes? Norcross residents will be casting their votes for not only the President of the United States but on the state level for Public Service Commissioner, State Representatives and a number of seats on the county level including County Commission Chairman and for County Board of Education for District 3 and District 5. For a sample ballot, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's website. Also on the ballot are two proposed amendments to the Georgia's state constitution. Amendment 1, (also known as the Charter School Amendment). If an online political quiz is accurate, more Georgians align with the viewpoints of Libertarian Gary Johnson than other candidates in the presidential election. According to a quiz on ISideWith.com, 52 percent of its participants from Georgia as of Sept. 14 have views that match those of Johnson; 48 percent matched President Barack Obama and 44 percent matched Republican Mitt Romney. More than 3.1 million people nationwide have participated, according to the website, which pitches the quiz as a way for voters to find their candidate for the November election.
