A three hundred foot water well still within a pump house off of Barton Street... this well once provided water to the entire city. Drive by and you can still see the spidery legs of what was once the holdong tank, also, the old electric utility building still stands there as well, as the well that is! Hi Linda- Great guess but it was correctly indentified as the porch of the 45 South Cafe where we gather for storyhour each week at 10 am on Wednesdays! DING DING DING- you are kinda right- it is a memorial marker for Harold Mitchell however it is not a 'grave' as his body, after he charged the beaches of Normandy during WWII, was never returned to his family... here is the history, as told to me by Connie Weathers who did extensive research when the park was remodled and the new markers were placed around the wall...
