7 Displaced in Peachtree Corners Apartment Fire

The blaze damaged a Valencia Park unit, seven people were displaced by the fire.

From Peachtree Corners An apparent grease fire in a Peachtree Corners apartment sent Gwinnett firefighters to the Valencia Park apartments on late Saturday (Feb. 2) afternoon. Lt. Colin Rhoden, spokesman for the Gwinnett fire department said when crews arrived "they noticed smoke coming from the two-story apartment building." Firefighters quickly evaluated the eight-unit building, doused the blaze in the kitchen and searched for any other fires. "Due to the quick and efficient response of fire crews, the fire damage was contained in the kitchen of the apartment where the fire began," said Rhoden.   No injuries were reported, but five adults and two children were displaced by the fire. Evening Fire Damages Dreamland BBQ in Peachtree Corners

A quick-thinking restaurant manager evacuated customers and employees when he saw smoke in the back of the building around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

From Peachtree Corners Patch Dreamland BBQ, the popular restaurant located on Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners, caught fire Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m. The fire appears to have caused extensive damage and is under investigation. Gwinnett firefighters were called around 5:20 p.m. and had the fire under control shortly after 6 p.m. said Lt. Colin Rhoden, spokesman for the county fire department. "There were several patrons in the restaurant at the time and the manager was able to get them and the employees out of the restaurant," said Rhoden. Fire Breaks Out at Old Peachtree Road Business

Wednesday evening Gwinnett firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a Peachtree Corners business.

Gwinnett firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze Wednesday night at a business located in an industrial section on Old Peachtree Road between Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Buford Highway. At 6:30 p.m. firefighters responded to a fire alarm at AM Home Delivery & Trucking company located at 4615 Old Peachtree Road. Lieutenant Colin S. Rhoden, spokesperson for the fire department said neighboring businesses noticed smoke coming from the business and also called to alert the fire department. "On arrival firefighters found a large, 20,000 square-foot warehouse with smoke coming from the roof," said Rhoden in his report. Guest Causes Fire at Peachtree Corners Hotel

An early morning blaze Wednesday at Studio Plus extended stay hotel on Jimmy Carter Boulevard leads to arrest.

A small fire erupted early Wednesday morning in the kitchen of one of the apartments of the Studio Plus extended hotel located on the 7000 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. Firefighters had reports of a man trapped in the apartment and when they arrived found heavy smoke coming from a window on the second level of the three-story brick building. He was later identified as Julius Duke, 30. Firefighters rescued Duke who was found unconscious on the bed, said Cpl. Eric Eberly, Gwinnett Fire Department's public information officer. But the rescued man refused to be transported to the hospital for evaluation. Eberly said firefighters were able to quickly control the small kitchen fire with a water can. The hotel's 60-80 …

Two Pets Rescued From Peachtree Corners Apartment Fire

Firefighters quickly doused kitchen fire, minor damage to residence, two dogs rescued, one may not survive.

  Gwinnett firefighters reponded to a fire at a Peachtree Corners apartment complex around 6 p.m. Thursday dousing a kitchen blaze and rescuing two pet dogs that were inside the apartment. A neighbor reported seeing smoke in one of the units in the Barrington Hills apartments on Chelsea Park Lane. When firefighters arrived "crews found smoke pushing out of one of the apartment units on the lower level of the two-story wood frame apartment building," said Public Information Officer Eric Eberly in his report. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about a half hour. The apartment fire caused moderate damage but caused no apparent damage to any of the adjoining apartment units.
