Inside the Police Reports: Four armed robberies were reported to Norcross Police from Jan. 25 to Jan. 28.
Norcross Police Chief Warren Summers said at the beginning of 2013 that the department has seen an increase in armed robberies in the city since the annexation of the east side of Buford Highway. From Jan. 25 to Jan. 28, four armed robberies were reported off Reps Trace, Brook Hollow Parkway, Buford Highway and Amber Drive. In one of the incidents, two sisters, 12 and 10, told officers that a man had tried to break into their Reps Trace house around 6:48 p.m. Jan. 27. Police are looking for a man who reportedly robbed 13 businesses at gun point, including three cell phone stores in the City of Norcross.
Gwinnett County Police need your help in finding the man in this video. GCPD Cpl. Jake Smith says he's responsible for 13 armed robberies in Gwinnett County. Police were first called to Appliance Solutions on Buford Hwy in Doraville on November 30th, 2011. The most recent incident was at the Boost Mobile at 575 W. Pike St. in Lawrenceville on January 10th. "Typically in these armed robbery series we see escalating violence. Not all the time, but frequently we do see that. Updated Jan. 18 at 3:40 p.m. Gwinnett County Police have arrested a man they believe to be responsible for 15 armed robberies within Gwinnett County. According to police, the suspect primarily targeted cell phone stores but has also robbed two appliance stores, a tobacco shop, and attempted a robbery at a Days Inn. Five of the robberies have occurred within city jurisdictions. Norcross Police, Lawrenceville Police and Lilburn Police investigated those incidents. After Norcross Police identified the man's tags using surveillance footage, Gwinnett Police were able to narrow the list of suspects to just a few. A man called his stolen cell phone while police had two suspects in custody. And it rang.
In a series of armed robberies in Gwinnett County and the City of Norcross, officers were able to narrow down the suspects by calling a victim’s cell phone. Late in the morning of Dec. 4, Norcross Police met with two Gwinnett Police officers on Brook Hollow Parkway to discuss a taxi driver who said he'd been robbed at gunpoint. According to the Norcross Police report, the victim said the robbery occurred at the Red Roof Inn at 5171 Brook Hollow Parkway.
