'Sequester' Budget Cuts to Affect Georgia's Education, Jobs, Vaccines and More

The White House began warnings about the sequestration -- automatic budget cuts -- by issuing reports on how the coming $85 billion in reductions will affect each of the 50 states.

According to USA TODAY, the White House began warnings about the sequestration -- automatic budget cuts -- by issuing reports Sunday (February 24) on how the coming $85 billion in reductions will affect each of the 50 states. With the cuts set to begin Friday, President Barack Obama is expected to cite the state reports as part of his effort to pressure congressional Republicans over the sequestration. In a statement, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said "surely" Obama can find a way to cut 2 to 3 percent from a $3.5 trillion budget. Norcross Staffer Decorated the White House

Cate Kitchen got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to add holiday cheer to the Oval Office.

Inside the Oval Office, there’s a smaller, cozier office for the President. There is a place setting on the desk, which was John F. Kennedy’s, indicating that President Obama probably has his lunch there on occasion. And directly in front of that desk is a mantle that Norcross Welcome Center Coordinator Cate Kitchen decorated for Christmas just days ago. Kitchen was given the once-in-a-lifetime honor of decorating the White House over the Thanksgiving week, after a chance encounter at a gathering with her family. And, even more amazing, she was one of just a few out of hundreds of volunteers who were assigned to the group that decorated the West Wing, including the Oval Office, the Situation Room and the First Lady’s Office. “It was just …
