Nicholas Poulos, a seventh grader at the Peachtree Corners private school, bested 19 other competitors at the recent competition.
You could say the third time is the charm for Nicholas Poulos, a 7th grader at the Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners. Poulos, 13, had made it to Round 3 (GISA Unit Finals) as a 5th grader and 6th grader only to lose out in the third round. This year, he was runner-up at Round 3 (GISA Unit Finals) which earned him a coveted spot at the State Championship. The young man, who lives in Tucker, became the 52nd Annual Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee champion on Friday besting Rohan Ramdeholl from North Gwinnett Middle School to win. "We've been on cloud nine since Friday," said Nicholas' mother Donna Poulos. "And Nicholas was just estatic to win," she added. The championship win means the young Poulus, who has attended …

Chad Hall, a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, is a 2005 graduate from the Peachtree Corners school.
How many of us can brag someone from our home town has played in the Super Bowl? Well, you can now. Wesleyan School grad Chad Hall, now a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, is on his way to Super Bowl 2013. It's something of a dream come true for the 26-year-old who during his years playing for the Wolves was the only player in the country to lead his team in rushing and receiving during his senior year. "It's unreal," Hall said in an interview with the Gwinnett Daily Post recently. "When you're 6 years old in the backyard, you're dreaming about playing in the Super Bowl. Now I get a chance to step on that field and soak up that atmosphere." After high school, Hall attended Air Force Academy where he started out as a quarterback then moved…

As of Friday night, more than 12,200 people viewed the video "They Don’t Want It—Spartan Nation," produced by students at Norcross’ Greater Atlanta Christian School. The students produced the video in response to the "Green and Gold" video produced by students at GAC's cross-county rival, Wesleyan School. The GAC students released their video after the GAC Spartans defeated the Wesleyan Wolves 42-20 last week in football. Even though the GAC video was posted on YouTube a week after the Wesleyan one, GAC has gained more hits. While GAC stood at more than 12,200 plays from its Nov. 6 post, Wesleyan had gained 11,500 since its YouTube debut Oct. 29. The GAC creative team that produced the video are Austin Crute, Sam Casey, Sam Weyen, Ben Corn…

A woman was shopping with her daughter when she allegedly saw the man, report says.
A man was arrested for public indecency last week after he allegedly showed his genitals to a woman inside an Ingles in Peachtree Corners. According to the Gwinnett County police report, a 19-year-old woman had been shopping at the 5075 Peachtree Parkway grocery store with her infant daughter around 10 a.m. Sunday, March 25, when the incident occurred. She told police that she saw a man, 42, wrapped in a white blanket. As he passed her, he yelled, "Hey!" so she turned toward him. He allegedly opened the blanket to expose his genitals, and she screamed for an employee for help. She told police that he casually walked out of the store and got into his Jeep. The man had left when police arrived on scene, but shortly after, authorities …
