Vargas & Harbin to Feature Work From Armenian Artist

The Norcross art gallery is hosting an opening reception Saturday on the "Hues of Venice," an exhibit featuring impressionistic oil paintings from internationally acclaimed artist Armand M.

Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery, in association with Zebu Gallery, is debuting a new exhibit this Saturday called "Hues of Venice." The new collection in Norcross will consist of impressionistic oil paintings from 81-year-old artist Armand M. Armand M, who is from Armenia and has internationally acclaimed work, uses a technique of oil painting that joins methods of antiquity combined with modern impressionism, creating a unique blend of past and present rarely seen in art today. "This show will present his renditions of walls in Venice and the unique Venetian landscape," according to a news release from Vargas & Harbin. H. Vargas & Harbin to Host Art Benefit for Family Violence Victims

All proceeds from the Norcross event will go to the Partnership Against Domestic Violence.

Downtown Norcross' Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery, in conjunction with Christopher Corbett, will host "Heal the Heart," an art benefit to support the Partnership Against Domestic Violence. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, guests will be able to enjoy an evening of cocktails, hor 'dourves, raffles, a silent auction and, of course, art. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds with benefit PADV. The number of businesses supporting the benefit has grown extensively. Local restaurants such as Pappadeaux, Zapata, Paizano's, Dominick's, Mojitos and Iron Horse Tavern have pitched in by either providing food for the evening or a gift for the raffle. Vargas & Harbin to Host Fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy Victims

The event will take place Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the studio gallery in Historic Downtown Norcross.

Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery in Historic Downtown Norcross is hosting a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy victims this Wednesday. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the gallery will be raffling many pieces of artwork and photography from local artists. Downtown restaurants such as Mojitos, 45 South Cafe and Iron Horse Tavern are donating appetizers for the fundraising event. A $5 donation is suggestion per raffle ticket, and of course, buying more raffle tickets will increase one's chances to win a piece of artwork. Gwinnett Artworks Director Sally Corbett has helped organize the event, as she is leaving Atlanta to return to the New York area to be closer to family. It's Halloween weekend, and Norcross has a bunch of treats, and possibly tricks, in store. It's the city's first BOOfest, which is a combination between Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations. On Friday, Vargas & Harbin Gallery Studio is debuting its artistic skull exhibition called "Day of the Dead." On Saturday, Norcross has a whole day of events lined up for everyone of all ages. Vargas & Harbin Closes 'Come Together,' New Exhibition Underway

This is last weekend for the Cuban artists' exhibition, but watch out for the gallery's next show June 7.

Norcross' Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery is saying goodbye to its current exhibit, "Come Together," but will have new artwork for its upcoming show shortly after. With the last showing this Sunday, "Come Together" features work from nine artists who went to art school together 30 years ago in Havanna, Cuba. The artists decided to reunite after being separated for so long and collaborate on an exhibition. "We bring all the passion we have as Cubans, and we try to show the meaning of Latin American art, especially Cuba," said Reinaldo Vargas, the curator for "Come Together" and the owner of the downtown gallery. Unique Collage Artist Showing at Local Gallery

Grace Wever show opens tonight at the Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery.

Richly colored layers silk and cotton, paper and thread, textured with stitching and wax make up the exquisitely detailed, unique artwork of Colorado artist Grace Wever. Fourteen of her works will soon be on display at the show "Landscapes of the Mind and Spirit" at the Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery in Historic Norcross, with an opening reception held tonight, Oct. 28, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and music is planned.  Wever, a self-taught artist, specializes in both abstract and landscape pieces using her own method of fabric collage. Wever began making art about nine years ago, after retiring from a career in science. “I always planned to retire as an artist,” she said. Wever laughed when she said she couldn’t …
