Meet Gwinnett's Cutest Couple: Lindsey and Nick of Norcross

Nick Acciarito and Lindsey Monroe, who met two years ago and plan to get married in March, share their love story with Patch.

Nick Acciarito and Lindsey Monroe, selected by Patch readers as Gwinnett's Cutest Couple, met in September of 2011. Lindsey, who serves as the Special Events and Communications Manager at Camp Sunshine, a nonprofit in Decatur that offers year-round programs for children with cancer and their families, also happens to help out with the famous haunted house, Netherworld. Nick, a firefighter for DeKalb County, was applying for work at the house. "I had been working there for about ten years and was helping out with casting," Lindsey explained. "He had to talk to me to get his paperwork." They chit-chatted, and she gave him a hard time about filling out his paperwork incorrectly. What Is Your Valentine's Day Tradition?

Is it a time for a romantic dinner for two or just another day of the week?

Happy Valentine's Day! The history of the Feb. 14 holiday is a long and complicated one linked to Christian and Roman traditions, according to History.com. "In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France and Australia," the website says. The American tradition of exchanging hand-made valentines likely began in the early 1700s. So what's your plan for today? The traditional flowers, candy, jewelry or romantic dinner out? Do you think more creatively than that, or do you shun the holiday altogether?  Do you have a tradition that you've followed since the very first time you realized that Cupid's arrow had struck? How will you be celebrating Valentine's Day?

10 Ways to Make Your Valentine’s Day Greener

Try these tips for Feb. 14 that are creative and kind to the environment.

Valentine’s Day can be lovely for sweethearts—but with tons of candy to consume and generic, store-bought cards that will be tossed rather than treasured, it can be a holiday to dread for parents.  Here are 10 tips to make your child’s 2013 Valentine’s Day celebrations more memorable—and kinder to the environment. 1)    Consider ditching the candy and handing out something small, special and fun. This year, my son will be giving his classmates Ninja pencils and Fuzzy Wuzzy pencils, available from Amazon.com, instead of cheap candy. Other options include stickers, pens or fun erasers from Swoozie's, Target or Office Max. 2)    Make chunky, recycled crayon hearts to give to classmates. Follow directions here, or you can buy them at Lil' …

According to life coach and author Ken Linder, many people fit into this category. On his website, he has some answers to why this happens. He also has some suggestions on how to …
