Photo Gallery: Show Us Your View of Stone Mountain!

The popular destination can be seen from all over Gwinnett County.

If you've ever been to Stone Mountain, you know just how much of Atlanta you can see from the top - 60 miles out on a clear day! It's a breathtaking sight, but did you know that the mountain is visible in some pretty surprising places around Gwinnett? The large granite protrusion is visible from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, a number of apartment homes in Buckhead, Memorial Drive, and of course many backroads all over Gwinnett County. For many of us, it's the landmark we see driving down Highway 78 that tells us we're almost home.  Take a minute, snap a photo of your view of the mountain and share it with us, with a caption that includes your location.

The park has partnered with the Atlanta Astronomy Club to give folks a chance to see it. There will be ten large solar-filtered telescopes set up on top of of the mountain. Participants will hear Atlanta Astronomy Club members describe the event. North Georgia College & State University’s Coleman Planetarium in Dahlonega will host a viewing party, too. Teams will film the event from the west balcony of the Health & Natural Sciences Building, and …
