Norcross, GAC Headed to State Semifinals

The Greater Atlanta Christian boys and both teams for Norcross High won in the basketball quarterfinals this week. The semifinals for the state playoffs is Friday and Saturday at Georgia Tech and Georgia College and State University.

The Greater Atlanta Christian boys and the girls and boys teams for Norcross High, the three Norcross-area basketball teams who competed in the third round of state playoffs, won their games this week and are headed to the semifinals this weekend. The Lady Blue Devils defeated Cherokee 76-43 in their Class AAAAAA game Tuesday. The girls will compete against Langston Hughes at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Georgia Tech. The NHS boys defeated Berkmar 56-35 Wednesday night. North Cobb is their next competitor, and the semifinals game starts at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Tech. In their Class AA quarterfinals game Wednesday, the Spartans won against Manchester 77-52. The GAC boys will go head-to-head against Laney at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Georgia …

Basketball Scoreboard: All Norcross Teams Win First Round of State Playoffs

The girls and boys teams for Norcross High and Greater Atlanta Christian creamed their opponents by a number of points, and the boys of Meadowcreek defeated Chattahoochee in overtime.

The first round of basketball playoffs were held Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and all Norcross teams competing in the tournament won.  Here's the breakdown of scores: Greater Atlanta Christian In Class AA, the Greater Atlanta Christian girls team won 68-25 against Dade County in their Tuesday home game. The Lady Spartans will compete against Kendrick in the second round of playoffs at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in Columbus.  GAC boys defeated Coosa 80-37 on Wednesday. The Spartans' next game is Saturday, Feb. 23, against Spencer. Norcross High The Lady Blue Devils had an easy win against South Forsyth, with a final score of 80-32. Basketball: Norcross Schools Head to State Playoffs

Boys and girls teams for Meadowcreek, Norcross and GAC will compete in the AAAAAA and AA tournaments, which start Tuesday.

Last week's basketball games determined the seeding for the state playoffs that begin Tuesday, and basketball teams from Norcross schools are competing. Both the girls and boys teams for Norcross High and Greater Atlanta Christian, in addition to the boys for Meadowcreek High, are headed to the tournament. After the girls' loss against Wesleyan 67-48 last Friday, GAC will play at home against Dade County in the AA game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Also on the Spartan's home turf, the boys team will compete against Coosa at 6 p.m. Wednesday. All the other teams also will play Wednesday in Class AAAAAA. Norcross Girls Top Alpharetta, Boys Beat Centennial

Both Norcross basketball teams win their playoff match-ups. The girls dominated 61–39, while the boys won 77-51.

The state AAAAA playoffs continued with the round of 16 Wednesday night in Norcross High School’s gymnasium with the Norcross girls taking on Alpharetta and Centennial High School matching up with the Norcross boys. The girls’ game got underway with a 10–2 Norcross run, which included two three-pointers by sophomore Diamond DeShields. Norcross also played strong defensively in the first quarter and led 18–6 at the end of the first eight minutes of play. In the second quarter, Alphareta started to figure out how to penetrate the Norcross defense and utilized a strong press to begin to claw its way back into the game and even take a brief lead before the half. However, the Lady Blue Devils bounced back and took the lead 24–23 at the break. …
