The Georgia Council for the Social Studies honored Dr. Scott Roberts, Gwinnett County Public Schools' social studies program specialist and a former Summerour Middle teacher, as the recipient of its 2012 Gwen Hutcheson Outstanding Social Studies Educator Award. The award recognizes a Georgia social studies educator for his or her leadership and service to the subject area, according to a news release.
