Former Norcross Councilman, Volunteer Fire Chief Passes Away at 84
Longtime Norcross resident Reuben A. "Junior" Gant died Sunday, Dec. 2.
Reuben A. “Junior” Gant, 84, of Norcross, passed away December 2, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Peachtree Corners. Burial will follow at Norcross City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Mr. Gant, a U.S. Army veteran, was a member of Norcross First Baptist Church for 70 years. He served on the Norcross City Council for 16 years and was a member of the Norcross Masonic Lodge No. 227 FA&M for 60 years. He was the fire chief for the city of Norcross Volunteer Fire Department, and he always wanted what was best for the city of Norcross. He was an avid fisherman and camper. …
