A Mall of Georgia Honda employee said he was preparing to leave work on Sept. 29 when a suspect walked onto the auto retailer’s parking lot and stole his vehicle. The employee said he left his car running next to the shop while he went inside the building for a brief period. A few minutes later, he noticed a man walking in the parking lot. Believing the man to possibly be a customer, the employee waved at the man and the man waved back. A few moments later, the employee heard a vehicle shift into gear and then heard the sound of squealing tires. Man was using his computer at the Mall of Georgia when it was taken.
A Lawrenceville man initially did not realize what was happening when another man took his laptop computer and began to walk away during an Oct. 1 incident at the Mall of Georgia. The victim said he was sitting outside a store using his computer when a man walked by and made eye contact, but did not speak. A few moments later, the man returned accompanied by a man wearing jeans, a vest and “eyeglasses like Lebron James.” The eyeglass-wearing male reportedly took the victim’s MacBook Pro out of his lap and “began casually walking away.” The victim said he initially thought the suspect was just playing. The son of former Gwinnett Commissioner Shirley Lasseter is being held without bond in the Gwinnett Detention Center after an incident Friday in Dacula.
Updated 2:51 p.m., Oct. 5, 2012 John Fanning, son of former Gwinnett County Commissioner Shirley Lasseter, was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center on Friday morning (Oct. 5) on charges that include aggravated assault and cruelty to children (third degree), records show. Fanning, already facing a federal prison sentence for bribery and drug trafficking charges, is being held without bond on the assault charge, as well as a charge of false imprisonment. Fanning, with a listed address of Bold Springs Road in Dacula, was booked into the jail at 11:28 a.m., records show. A young woman was found behind the Hertz Rent-a-Car near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchants Way at about 5 p.m. Friday. She was transported to the hospital, but didn't survive.
The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened at about 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchants Way in unincorporated Duluth. Police say Monique Marlowe, believed to be about 25 years old, was found behind the Hertz Rent-a-Car adjacent to the Gwinnett County Transit pick-up/drop-off hub. Marlowe was transported to Gwinnett County Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Marlowe's address was not released, but the next of kin has been notified, according to police. According to a media release distributed just after 11 p.m. Friday, the victim was a Hertz employee who was shot while attending to a vehicle behind the building. She was found by other …
