Viewfinder: Norcross Defeats South Gwinnett in Playoffs

The Blue Devils will play against Camden County next Friday.

The Norcross Blue Devils beat the South Gwinnett Comets 27-7 last Friday, Nov. 23, in the second round of football playoffs. Norcross also played South Gwinnett earlier this year in the 2012 season opener at Snellville, and the Blue Devils won 35-20. Norcross High remains undefeated this season with 12 wins. The team's next game will be against the Camden County High Wildcats next Friday, Nov. 30, and it will be determined this Saturday, Nov. 23, if the game will be held at the Blue Devils stadium or at Camden. Three all-Gwinnett County matchups will highlight second-round games in the Georgia High School Association football playoffs this weekend. In all, a total of nine Gwinnett teams advanced to the second round in three classifications. Norcross Vs. Chattahoochee in Playoffs Friday

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Devils stadium, but if you're not able to make it out, watch the entire event live with PlayOn! Sports.

It's no doubt that Norcross High football has been killing it this season with its undefeated streak. This Friday, Nov. 16, marks the first game of the playoffs, and the Blue Devils are facing the Chattahoochee High Cougars. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $10. If you're unable to attend the game in person, it doesn't mean you have to miss the excitement completely. PlayOn! Australian Open Wild Card Playoffs Coming to Town

Tennis greats Jim Courier and Pat McEnroe in town next month for the USTA event at the Racquet Club of the South Dec. 16-18.

Professional tennis is coming back to town. TheRacquet Club of the South (RCS) in Peachtree Corners is set to host the Australian Open Wild Card Playoffs Dec. 16-18. Eight men and women will compete in the wild card playoffs. The event also features an exhibition match on Friday, Dec. 16 that will be played in a World TeamTennis format with U.S. Davis Cup Jim Courier and USTA Player Development General Manger Patrick McEnroeserving as the team captains. It's the third consecutive year that the event has been held at the RCS. “The Racquet Club of the South has been a great host for our Australian Open Wild Card Playoff the past two years," said McEnroe. Can the Blue Devils Beat Dacula a Second Time?

High School Football Prediction: Hey, why not? Norcross can be tough to beat.

High School Football Prediction Norcross (8-2) at Dacula (7-3) The season began for both of these teams with this same matchup on Aug. 18 (a 35-7 Norcross). That was a long time ago, and things have changed for both teams. The win began a 5-0 start for Norcross, which looked like the team to beat in Region 7-AAAAA until back-to-back losses to North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge essentially secured third place for the Blue Devils. Dacula started 0-2, but beat Brookwood in week 3 and finished the season winning six of seven. Norcross, with steady Joseph Wilber at quarterback and a slew of talented offensive players around him, including 1,000-yard rusher Alvin Kamara, has what it takes to win some playoff games. Norcross Gets Rematch in First Round

The Blue Devils, who beat Mountain View 49-33 Friday night, are the No. 3 seed from Region 7-AAAAA.

The first-round opponent for Norcross in the Class AAAAA playoffs next week will be a familiar foe. The Blue Devils (8-2), who beat Mountain View 49-33 Friday night in their final regular-season game, will be the No. 3 seed from Region 7-AAAAA, and play at Dacula, the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA. It will be the second time the Blue Devils (8-2) will have faced the Falcons (7-3) this season. Norcross beat Dacula 35-7 in the season-opener on Aug. 18.
