News Nearby: GCPD Says Student Brought Gun to School Track Meet

David Augustus Lee, a student at Archer High, was charged and arrested with possessing a weapon on school grounds at Parkview High School. No one was hurt.

An Archer High student has been released from jail after being charged with having a handgun present during a school sporting event.  David Augustus Lee II, of Lawrenceville, was arrested March 30 at Parkview High School in Lilburn, where he was attending the fourth annual Big Orange Relays track meet. A witness at Archer High alerted police to the possible presence of a weapon; Augustus' arrest followed a search of his vehicle by school officials. Gwinnett County school officials confirm the student is a sophomore at Archer High, and say in cases such as this, that students are out of school pending a disciplinary panel. By Corey Richardson, assistant football coach for Norcross High School For the second year in a row, Norcross High School played on WSB's Thursday Night Football, and for the second year in a row they earned a victory.   On Thursday, Sept. 6, the Norcross Blue Devils beat the Parkview Panthers 20-0 on a stellar defensive effort. Key leaders on defense were Tommy Tate, Kevin Mouhon, Jahmal Jones, Jarmarcus Connally, Lorenzo Carter, Shon Akins and Jordan Noil.   Scoring for the Blue Devils started midway in the first quarter. Norcross scored on a 34-yard pass from Joseph Wilber to Trey Smith. With 21 seconds before half, Joseph Wilber then hit Myles Autry on a 4-yard pass for another touchdown. Former GAC Running Back Charged With Assault

Caleb King, recently cut by the Minnesota Vikings, is formally charged in the beating of another man outside a birthday party.

Caleb King, a former football star for Greater Atlanta Christian Schools and Parkview High School, has been formally charged in the April beating of a man outside a birthday party in Minnesota. The Anoka County Attorney's Office in Minnesota issued a press release regarding the charges on Aug. 10. King, a 24-year-old Lilburn resident, has been charged with third-degree assault and fifth-degree assault for allegedly punching a man in the face, while both were at a birthday party, according to the release. The victim suffered a skull fracture and a nasal fracture, and he received 19 stitches to repair some of the injuries. “Uncontrolled anger mixed with alcohol leads to dangerous situations,” Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo said in the …

2012 Olympics: Spotlight on Eric Shanteau

Eric Shanteau, a graduate of Parkview High, will be competing in the 4x100-meter medley relay and the 100-meter breaststroke.

Former Lilburn resident Eric Shanteau is hoping to swim for the gold in the 2012 summer Olympic Games, which begin this Friday with the opening ceremony in London.  In June, the 28-year-old qualified for the London Games by placing second in the 100-meter breaststroke finals during the Olympic Trials, according to media reports. And, with a time of 1:00.15, Shanteau welcomed his second chance to compete at the Olympic Games. He first competed in 2008 in Beijing. This time he will compete in the 4x100-meter medley relay and the 100-meter breaststroke. Shanteau, who graduated from Parkview High School in 2002, set numerous records with his high school team members and as a solo swimmer. His brother, Ryan, also swam for the Parkview Panthers…

Former GAC, UGA Running Back Arrested on Suspicion of Assault

Caleb King, now playing for Minnesota, is accused of beating another man outside a birthday party.

Caleb King, a former football star for Greater Atlanta Christian Schools and Parkview High, has been arrested for suspicion of beating another man, according to an Associated Press report on the Gwinnett Daily Post. The article states that King, who is signed as a rookie free agent for the Minnesota Vikings, has been jailed but not charged for the incident. King is accused of punching the victim, 22, repeatedly and throwing him headfirst to the ground outside a birthday party, according to the AP article. The man was hospitalized with skull and facial fractures, Anoka County Sheriff's Cmdr. Paul Sommer told AP.
