Norcross High basketball player Diamond DeShields committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday, according to ESPN. DeShields is the No. 3 propsect in the class of 2013, and is the Tar Heels' highest-ranked junior commitment to date, according to the article. The offense guard helped the Lady Blue Devils score a spot in this year's semifinals, but they lost against the undefeated McEachern High 64-61. Norcross had won the previous two state titles. A suspect wanted in a Norcross-area hit-and-run was arrested Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C., according to WSBTV Channel 2. Miguel Sanchez-Cruz, 40, was wanted by Gwinnett County police for felony hit-and-run charges in unincorporated Norcross from August 2011. Sanchez-Cruz had hit a man who was helping a stranded driver push a vehicle in a gas station parking lot at Brook Hollow Parkway and Center Way. Sanchez-Cruz fled, and the victim ended up losing part of his left leg, according to WSBTV. Ever since the incident, Sanchez-Graves had been spending seven months on the run.
