Fire Breaks out at Split-Level Home in Norcross Area

No one was reported injured in the Sunday fire on Dana Drive, between Williams Road and Rockbridge Road.

A house in the Norcross area was heavily damaged in a fire Sunday, according to authorities. No one was reported injured. According to Gwinnett County Fire's spokesperson Capt. Tommy Rutledge, firefighters were dispatched around 10 p.m. to a split-level home off the 5800 block of Dana Drive, between Williams Road and Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Norcross. Flames were coming from the right side of the residence. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, which quickly brought the fire under control.   One occupant was in the home and was able to escape unharmed. Rutledge reported that the fire caused heavy damage to the area of origin, which appears to be the fireplace, and it sent smoke throughout the home. The occupant told …

Family Unharmed in Small Norcross Apartment Fire

Fire was contained to one unit of apartment complex.

A mother and two children escaped harm Wednesday morning in a small fire at an apartment unit in Norcross, fire officials said. Crews found light smoke when arriving at the apartment building in the 2500 block of Windsor Woods Lane N.W., Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. Firemen quickly extinguished the fire which was contained to a laundry room and sent smoke through the apartment. The woman had reportedly used the dryer prior to the fire erupting, Rutledge said. Firefighters removed a dog from the apartment during a search. The dog was apparently uninjured, Rutledge said. Management at the complex was helping the family find a place to stay.

Arson Blamed for House Fire in Norcross

Neighbors called the fire department Saturday night after seeing smoke coming from in a vacant home on Kay Drive.

Fire Investigators have determined that a fire in a vacant home in unincorporated Norcross Saturday night was intentionally set. The Georgia Arson Control, Inc. is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for arson. Firefighters responded to a call from neighbors Saturday night at 8:05 p.m. to the 6000 block of Kay Drive, NW located near Singleton Road. Firefighters found the home filled with smoke and a fire in one of the bedrooms. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The home is managed by a rental company, the property owners live out of town. Fire Investigators have ruled arson as the cause but no further information will be …
