Norcross High graduate and University of Connecticut shooting guard Jeremy Lamb was picked up by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2102 NBA Draft held Thursday night, according to SoxAndDawgs.com. The 2010 Norcross High grad, along with fellow UConn starting center Andre Drummond, became the 17th and 18th first-round picks from UConn. The duo is also the Huskies' 12th and 13th lottery picks under 26-year head coach Jim Calhoun, and they're the 14th and 15th UConn players to leave school early for the draft, too. Draft prognosticators had the 6-foot-5, 180-pound being selected as high as No. 8 overall, and virtually none of the so-called "mock drafts" had him falling out of the first round. Lamb, a former basketball captain at …

Have the recent teen car accidents in Norcross made you extra cautious?
This past week, the Norcross area saw two teen car accidents that have been disastrous to those involved. On Wednesday, April 25, Norcross High student Alex Mora was injured in a car-surfing accident off Beaver Ruin Road. The car overturned at one point and crushed Mora, causing him to be in a medically induced coma, according to police. And last Sunday, Meadowcreek High student Johlonda Lindsey died in a car wreck while going to an after-prom party with some friends. Four other students were injured, and the police report indicates speed as a factor in the collision. Lindsey and Mora were not the ones behind the wheel, but the drivers, who were also students, have been arrested for multiple charges. Teen driving has always been a deeply …
