Check out what Norcross has planned for the weekend of April 19-21.
Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few things you can do around Norcross. If you're looking for something to keep the kids busy, get them involved in community acting by letting them audition for "Seussical Jr." at Lionheart Theatre. The Dr. Seuss play will bring characters such as Horton, the Amazing Maizy, the Cat in the Hat and more to life on the Norcross stage. Auditions are open to ages 7 through 17 and will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be five performances total from July 19 through July 21. By Julie Fitzgerald Spring is here and the Norcross Garden Club has a new look! Thanks to the sidewalk reconstruction of College Street in downtown, we have new steps and railings, plus lots of new plantings. Linda Edwards and Julie Foster (who's also a Patch blogger) from “Gardens By Design” helped us choose the plants. Club members had a beautiful spring day to install our new plants the last weekend of March. All this is happening none too soon as our Annual Plant Sale will be April 19-20. In case you did not know, our quaint historical building is now available to rent for small meetings and celebrations such as bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, business meetings and more. Our property is located at 33 College St. and is across …

By Julie Fitzgerald We had a very enthusiastic turnout for garden expert, writer, radio and tv host Walter Reeves' talk with more than 180 in attendance. Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson introduced Walter to the eager crowd. In his usual, highly entertaining fashion Walter told us how to prepare our lawns and gardens for the fall and winter to ensure a healthy, happy landscape next spring. The raffle for gardening-themed items was well received. The selections ranged from a large Oakleaf hydrangea to gardening tools, flower paintings and photographs, ceramic bird baths, gift certificates for landscaping services and an artfully decorated shovel! Walter also took a nice tour of the Norcross Garden Club's house and gardens during the pre-event …
