Need a Sober Ride Home New Year’s Eve?

There’s an app for that - courtesy of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

In order to ensure that anyone who has had too much to drink doesn’t hit the roads on New Year’s Eve, the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has come up with a plan. Across Georgia on New Year’s Eve, and Super Bowl Sunday, there will be a wide variety of taxi companies and designated driver services providing free rides home for people “in need of a sober driver.” The service, and corresponding app for it, is part of the GOHS program to eliminate drunk drivers on Georgia roads. The following are …

New Year's Around the World

Not everyone rang in the new year with champagne and a midnight kiss, we found some interesting facts on how others around the world celebrate the moment.

Ah, New Year's Eve--it was a wondrous night of celebration. Here in the U.S., we tend to drink too much, or at least toast with champagne, kiss someone at midnight and then eat black eyed peas and greens for luck and money in the coming year. But we weren't the only ones celebrating. All around the world, each country was living it up and partaking in its own traditions for bringing in the New Year. Here's how other cultures were ringing it in: 1.  Eating lentils on New Year's Eve is a must in Italy. They are meant to look like Roman money which in turn is supposed to bring fortune and money. They also are to wear red underwear for good luck. 2.  In Germany, family and friends get together on New Year's Eve to enjoy a meal of raclette, …
