11Alive Morning Show to Tape Live in Norcross

The live taping takes place at Lillian Webb Park.

A local television news show is coming to Norcross. The 11Alive News Today morning show will broadcast live from Lillian Webb Park in Norcross on Friday, May 10, according to WXIA. It is the third stop on the "This is Home" summer tour, which highlights what makes communities special. The public is invited to attend the live taping, which runs 4:30 a.m. - 7 a.m.

The second annual Gateway International Food & Music Festival was filled with different cultures from all over the world.

The Gateway International Food & Music Festival was in full swing Saturday in Norcross' Lillian Webb Park. Organized by the city and the Gwinnett Village Community Alliance, the second annual festival was filled with dances, music, food and shopping from a number of different cultures in the community. The Second Annual Gateway International Food and Music Festival is coming Nov. 3 to Norcross. Taking place in Lillian Webb Park, the all-day cultural festival will feature a a range of music, food, dancing, kids' activities, and arts and crafts, according to a press release. It aims to celebrate different cultures in the metro Atlanta area, according to a press release. Don't Fear the Peanut Shells in the Park

Initially the city was planning to use a peanut product as part of the prepartion of soil and grass in Lillian Webb Park, but no more.

Lillian Webb Park will indeed be closed for electrical maintenance and turf renovation July 5 on all sidewalks, facilities, grassy areas, fountains and splashpads. But people with nut allergies should not fear returning to the park when the work is completed on July 13. The city had originally warned locals that a product called ERTH Food would be used for the turf renovation and that the substance contained peanut shells. If used, it could be dangerous to anyone highly allergic to peanuts or peanut products, said the city's website. ERTH Food is the all-natural, organic, composted fertilizer with super-natural results. It is a unique all-in-one product that provides soil-conditioning organic matter and nutrients in one application. …

Norcross Parks to Undergo Maintenance This Week, in July

Grassy areas of Thrasher Park are closed until Wednesday, and Lillian Webb Park will be unavailable to the public for a week in July.

Update, July 2 Initially the city planned to use a peanut product as part of the prepartion of soil and grass in Lillian Webb Park during its July revonations, but this is no longer the case. The city plans to use a product that is a combination of top soil and sand, similar to what's been used in Thrasher Park. For more information on the project, check out the article Don't Fear the Peanut Shells in the Park. ---- After the playground area at Thrasher Park was closed last week to remove a dead tree, additional dates have been added to the city website for other maintenance work for Lillian Webb and Thrasher parks. Spring Break Music Fest is This Saturday

Grab those flip flops and sunscreen for some beach fun right in Norcross.

Grab those shorts and smother on the SPF30 to spend a day in the sun this Saturday at the Spring Break Music Fest in downtown Norcross. Lillian Webb Park will be transformed into the ultimate beach scene with real sand, live music, inflatable toys, games and possibly even the splash pad, if the weather behaves. Nine bands ranging from classic rock to blues are scheduled to play on two stages starting at 10 a.m., so bring those blankets and lawnchairs for relaxing in. The main act, Depature: the Journey Tribute Band, will be performing at 8 p.m., according to the APlacetoImagine website.
