Check out where the Norcross team falls on the MaxPreps Top 25 list now that they've defeated North Gwinnett in the state championships and earned the Class AAAAAA title.
Last week was a good week in basketball for Norcross teams. Greater Atlanta Christian earned the Class AA title, and the boys and girls for Norcross High both won the Class AAAAAA titles in the state championships. The win earned the Lady Blue Devils a higher spot on the MaxPreps Top 25 ranking for high school girls basketball. Considering Norcross had been ranked No. 23 in the nation the week they were playing North Gwinnett, which was at No. 5, winning the game was a huge triumph. The game caused the Norcross girls to jump to No. 17 on the list this week. The Bulldogs and Blue Devils will face each other for the Class AAAAAA title this Saturday in the state championships.
Making the No. 25 spot last week, the Norcross High girls basketball team finally make it on MaxPreps' national ranking list. After defeating Langston Hughes 62-16 in the semifinals last Saturday, the Lady Blue Devils have climbed up two spots on the list and are now ranked at No. 23. Thing is, the state championships for the Class AAAAAA title is this Saturday, March 9, and Norcross is playing against North Gwinnett, who ranks No. 5. The Norcross girls beat the Fairburn school 62-16 in the Class AAAAAA basketball game Saturday.
The Lady Blue Devils defeated Langston Hughes 62-16 in the state semifinals Saturday at Georgia Tech, according to GHSA. The Norcross High girls now are headed to the state finals, which will be held at 7 p.m. March 9 at the Macon Coliseum. They will compete against North Gwinnett for the Class AAAAAA title.

Diamond DeShields and Shayla Cooper of Norcross High have a chance to play in the prestigious high school all-star game.
Nine high school basketball players from Gwinnett County, two of which are from Norcross High, have been nominated to play in the annual McDonald's All-American all-star games later this year. Seniors Diamond DeShields and Shayla Cooper of the Lady Blue Devils were both picked. Cooper is dedicated to Georgetown University, according to ESPN. DeShields, a shooting guard, is signed on to go to the University of North Carolina. She also earned the MVP title in the U17 World Championship team, which won first place this year by defeating Spain in August. Players from Norcross High School, Greater Atlanta Christian and other Georgia schools are playing in the fifth annual event with players from other states.
Norcross High School basketball is hosting the fifth annual Hilton Invitational this year. The school has assembled a 12-team field of strong, long Georgia teams and national powers to participate in the games, according to a press release. Players from both Norcross and Greater Atlanta Christian School are participating in the event, which is planned for Saturday, Jan. 26, at Norcross High.
