Norcross High graduate and University of Connecticut shooting guard Jeremy Lamb was picked up by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2102 NBA Draft held Thursday night, according to SoxAndDawgs.com. The 2010 Norcross High grad, along with fellow UConn starting center Andre Drummond, became the 17th and 18th first-round picks from UConn. The duo is also the Huskies' 12th and 13th lottery picks under 26-year head coach Jim Calhoun, and they're the 14th and 15th UConn players to leave school early for the draft, too. Draft prognosticators had the 6-foot-5, 180-pound being selected as high as No. 8 overall, and virtually none of the so-called "mock drafts" had him falling out of the first round. By the end of Thursday night, another Norcross High School basketball player will have a spot in the NBA. Jeremy Lamb, a 2010 grad and former basketball captain at Norcross High, is a slam-dunk choice in Thursday night's NBA Draft. Draft prognosticators have the 6-foot-5, 180-pound being selected as high as No. 8 overall, and virtually none of the so-called "mock drafts" has him falling out of the first round. Lamb, who played two years at UConn before declaring for the NBA Draft in April, will be the fourth recent Norcross High star to put on a NBA uniform, joining Jodie Meeks, Al-Farouq Aminu and Gani Lawal. Jeremy Lamb, the Norcross High School basketball player who has been making headlines as the highest scoring player of the UConn team, was profiled recently in the Stamford Advocate, a local newspaper. The profile paints a picture of Lamb as a player who got a slower start than some other star freshman--but as someone who has a unique work ethic. The writer points to his early morning practices at Norcross High School and the middle-of-the-night practice sessions Lamb has been pulling this year. "For Lamb, the empty gymnasium has always been therapeutic," writes Kevin Duffy in the article. "Just like a grade-schooler in the driveway, Lamb still does the countdown (the "3, 2, 1 buzzer beater") and envisions the Gampel crowd going crazy …
