The holiday 2012 shopping bargains did not end with Black Friday on the coveted new iPhone. Walmart, in a move the week before Christmas, announced it will begin selling the iPhone 5 for $127, which is $72 less than Apple's price when buying with a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. The iPhone 4S can be had for a mere $47. Also, Walmart, in Dunwoody on Ashford Dunwoody Road, has put the third-generation iPad on sale for $399. And if you buy one after Monday Walmart will throw in a $30 iTunes gift card. The move comes just three months after Apple rolled out the latest version of its landmark smartphone. This could mean that iPhone sales are lagging. The Los Angeles Times reported that a UBS analyst announced he was lowering …

The suspect also allegedly threatened to kill the victim if he didn't give him the money for the Apple products.
Another iPad scam was reported in the Norcross area earlier this month, and this time it was for $1,000. According to the Norcross police report, a 33-year-old Atlanta man met with someone who agreed to sell him some iPads in the Latino Plaza parking lot at 5735 Buford Hwy. around 7 p.m. Aug. 3. The seller stayed in his car while the buyer walked to the passenger side window, the complaintant told police via translator. The suspect showed him the "iPads" wrapped in bubblewrap and asked to see his money, so the victim pulled out $1,000 in cash from his pocket. Suddently, the driver allegedly reached into his pants with his right hand, looked at the victim and said, "Give me all the money or I will kill you!" The victim told police that he …

Another victim gets allegedly duped into buying an iPad from a man in a car.
A Tucker man said he was deceived when purchasing an iPad off Singleton Road earlier this month. According to the Gwinnett County police report, the 25-year-old said he was traveling on the road around 10:20 p.m. when a man in a green car beside him offered an iPad 3 for $200. The Tucker man showed interested, so he followed the other man into the nearby Kroger parking lot, located at 6050 Singleton Rd. in unincorporated Norcross. The consumer took out some money from the ATM while the other man pulled out a FedEx box, with the iPad supposedly inside. The consumer asked to look inside before paying, but the suspect didn't agree to it and threatened to leave. So the buyer paid the suspect, who then drove away before the victim could open …

A mother and daughter were allegedly scammed into buying two iPads and an Apple laptop while at QuikTrip late last month.
A mother and daughter were allegedly scammed into buying two iPads and an Apple laptop while at QuikTrip late last month. The incident is somewhat similar to another report of a woman scammed into buying a MacBook Pro in a Walmart parking lot in Lilburn. According to the police report, the 32-year-old woman was with her 51-year-old mom at QuikTrip, located at 5095 Oakbrook Parkway in unincorporated Norcross, around 12:30 p.m. Jan. 24. She told Gwinnett County Police that she and her mom were approached by two men in the parking lot who said they were selling iPads and Apple laptops. The women said they didn't have the money on them, so they asked for the men's cell phone numbers. The men instead took the daughter's cell phone number and …

Somewhat unrelated, but I bought an iPad at the Tucker Walmart over the weekend (in the store, not the parking lot!) and it contained note-pads (paper), no iPad. Walmart will not replace! Anyone else in this situation?   more ›
