Hertz has put up a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of one of its employees, Monique Marlowe, according to a media update issued by the Gwinnett County Police Department. Anyone with information on this case should contact Homicide Unit detectives at 770-513-5300. The Gwinnett Police Department Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the homicide, which occurred between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Hertz Rent-A-Car at 3492 Satellite Blvd. in unincorporated Duluth. The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened at about 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchants Way in unincorporated Duluth. Police say Monique Marlowe, believed to be about 25 years old, was found behind the Hertz Rent-a-Car adjacent to the Gwinnett County Transit pick-up/drop-off hub. Marlowe was transported to Gwinnett County Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Marlowe's address was not released, but the next of kin has been notified, according to police. The family of Norcross area resident Timothy Kemp is getting some sense of closure over 4 months after the man’s body was found in a grassy area behind his Harbin Springs apartment. Justo Luis Alonzo, 29, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery in connection with this case, according to Gwinnett County Police. The family sent out a plea to the public in August, asking anyone with information about their relative to come forward. They said he took public transportation to work and was likely walking home from the bus stop on the evening of his death. Gwinnett County Police reported today that another homicide has occurred in an unincorporated area of Norcross. Officers reported to a call of a shooting on Oct. 2 at 1:15 a.m. at 4300 Jimmy Carter Blvd. An officer arrived at the Paces Crossing apartments to find a man in his mid-30s lying near the door of his apartment, shot multiple times, according to a Gwinnett Police release. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries, according to Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett Police Dept. The identity of the man is not being released, since police are still attempting to notify his family. A man was found dead from gunshot wounds in the wooded area behind Las Tortas Locas restaurant late last night, according to a Gwinnett Police release. A uniformed officer was approached by a woman at around 1 a.m. who said she saw a suspicious man behind the restaurant, which is located at 6131 S. Norcross Tucker Road in an unincorporated part of Norcross. The Gwinnett Police officer found an unresponsive man in the wood line behind the shopping center, and said his body appeared to have gunshot wounds, according to the release. The identity of the man has not been established, but he is described as a 40- to 45-year-old Hispanic male. Gwinnett Police ask anyone with information to contact them directly at 770-513-5300.

One week after murder, the family of Timothy Kemp is searching for answers.
The youngest son of 46-year-old Timothy Lance Kemp stood in front of cameras yesterday with more than 15 of his family members at his side. His tone was insistent: If you have any information at all about his father’s murder, please talk to police. The son, Dionte Johnson, wants to know why his father, who he describes as a hard-working family man, was shot once in the head and left in a grassy area in the Harbin Springs apartments where he lived with Johnson’s mother. The victim has now been identified as 46-year-old Timothy Lance Kemp, a resident of the apartments. Updated June 29, 9:24 a.m. Gwinnett Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was found dead in a breezeway at a Lilburn-area apartment complex Tuesday afternoon. Police say the man, identified as 19-year-old Angelo Larocca, was found around 1:50 p.m. Monday at the 1000 building of the Columns at Paxton Apartments at 4305 Paxton Lane. This is an unincorporated area just off of U.S. 78 between Killian Hill Road and Lake Lucerne. Gwinnett Police: A man was shot to death at 975 Worchester Place in Norcross.
Updated 9:12 p.m. Just after the stroke of midnight marked the beginning of 2011, 34-year-old Sergio Martinez died on Worchester Place in unincorporated Norcross from a gunshot wound, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. His neighbors were arrested for involuntary manslaughter. They shot "celebratory gunfire" around midnight. According to a release, Martinez's brother called the police to report the incident.
