Arrest Made in Norcross Area Homicide Case

A Lawrenceville man has been charged with the July murder of Timothy Kemp.

The family of Norcross area resident Timothy Kemp is getting some sense of closure over 4 months after the man’s body was found in a grassy area behind his Harbin Springs apartment. Justo Luis Alonzo, 29, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery in connection with this case, according to Gwinnett County Police. The family sent out a plea to the public in August, asking anyone with information about their relative to come forward. They said he took public transportation to work and was likely walking home from the bus stop on the evening of his death. UPDATED: Body Found in Norcross Area is Apparent Homicide

The body of Timothy Lance Kemp, 46, was found in a grassy area behind an apartment building.

Updated 2:46 p.m.  A man’s body was found this morning behind a Harbin Springs Apartments building. Police found the man dead from a gunshot wound to the head in what they believe was a homicide.  The victim has now been identified as 46-year-old Timothy Lance Kemp, a resident of the apartments.  Gwinnett County Police received a call at 8:18 a.m. after a maintenance worker found the body while doing his morning rounds, according to Cpl. Edwin Ritter. A black male in his 40s was located in a grassy area behind the 100 building of the complex, which is at Twin Springs Trail and Harbins Road in an unincorporated area of Norcross.  “We don’t know what the motive is,” said Ritter.  “This is very preliminary information.” Police do not suspect …
