Fire Destroys Home in Norcross Area

A family of three have been displaced in unincorporated Norcross.

A home was destroyed in a fire Sunday in unincorporated Norcross, according to Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services. Neighbors and a passerby reported seeing flames coming from the home, located on the 1600 block of Auden Lane near Graves Road, around 1:09 p.m. Firefighters arrived shortly after but could only fight the fire from the outside due to the intense blaze and partial roof collapse. Because of the fire, the single-story residence is unrepairable. Its residents, one adult and two children, were not at home during the fire, and are currently being assisted by neighbors and friends. The fire appears to have originated in the kitchen area, but the exact cause is currently undetermined. No foul play was suspected.

Burned Out Church Brings Back Memories

Grazing horses once roamed the acreage of this well-known Peachtree Corners landmark.

“We can’t have what is in the future until we let go of the past,” said Pastor Nathan Ridgeway of the Faith, Life, Fellowship Church; and what a past that has been. The brick-and-steel church with the towering spire was a familiar sight to many residents. Thirty years ago the land was part of a horse farm. With the population boom of the early-to-late 1980s there was a great deal of development in the area. According to the Gwinnett County Tax Assessors Office, the former horse farm was developed into a church in the mid-1980s by Perimeter Presbyterian. From Perimeter Presbyterian it became Perimeter Church. When Perimeter Church’s congregation grew too large for the building on Spalding, it moved to its current home on S.R. 141 and Old …
