Jess Willard Haygood, 80, and Sara Pauline Haygood, 67, died in the collision.
From Barrow Patch An auto accident Monday along Ga. Highway 8 in Barrow County killed two people from Norcross. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 2003 GMC Envoy being driven by Winder resident Kristina Marie Brown was traveling eastbound on Highway 8 about 2:25 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 1992 Honda Accord being driven by Jess Willard Haygood, 80, of Norcross. Haygood and a passenger, Sara Pauline Haygood, age 67, also of Norcross, died in the crash. Brown was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. A blood sample was taken to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Charges are pending the completion of a follow-up investigation by the GSP Specialized Collision …

A fiery crash in Sugar Hill claimed the lives of two adults early Tuesday morning. Now Gwinnett County Police need your help in identifying the victims. GCPD says the dark gray BMW 740i was heading north on Sycamore Rd, a half a mile north of Nelson Brogdon Blvd in unincorporated Sugar Hill at around 12:30am Tuesday. Investigators say the driver lost control of the car, crossed the double yellow line and crashed into a tree. The vehicle then erupted in flames. The driver and passenger were both pronounced dead after the fire had been extinguished. Because of the severe injuries sustained in the accident, investigators are having a hard time identifying the victims. GCPD think they may have identified the driver but are waiting for …

A Gwinnett County woman was struck and killed in an early morning accident on I-85 Friday. According to Gwinnett County Police, 39-year-old Jade Christensen was attempting to cross the multi-lane highway just south of the Buford Dr. exit, which leads to the Mall of Georgia and Coolray Field. The accident happened just before 1am Friday. The preliminary investigation shows Christensen had successfully crossed the northbound lanes and was attempting to cross the southbound side. That's when police say she was struck by a 2004 GMC Envoy. Christensen died at the scene from her injuries. Investigators say Christensen was at fault for the accident and believe she was under the influence of alcohol. GCPD will continue to investigate. This fatal …

A man charged with 1st degree manslaughter checked himself out of the hospital without notifying police.
A fatal car accident on I-85 just inside the Gwinnett County resulted in DUI and 1st degree vehicular manslaughter charges against Brayan Rivera in Dec. Rivera checked himself out of Gwinnett Medical Center shortly after the incident without contacting the police or turning himself in. Gwinnett Police are now asking for the public’s help identifying the man, who a 23-year-old Hispanic male. The accident occurred on Dec. 12, 2010 around 3:15 a.m. A 1999 Cadillac Deville, driven by 22-year-old Diana Lovett, was stopped in the HOV lane. The car was struck a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero driven by Rivera.
