Bleu House's Maureen and Nicole Adams are making different dishes with locally grown farm fresh eggs and pecans for Farmhouse's Moveable Feast in downtown Norcross.
Downtown Norcross' newest shop, Farmhouse 17, is hosting a farm-to-table supper this month that will feature local restaurant Bleu House Cafe. The supper, known as the homegoods store's Moveable Feast, is a monthly four- or five-course meal that incorporates farms and foods grown nearby. The dinners are served around a community table of acquaintances. For the May 18th dinner, Bleu House's co-owners Maureen and Nicole Adams will be incorporating locally grown farm fresh eggs and pecans from Georgia's Phoenix Gardens and Pearson Pecan Farm. The new home goods store off Holcomb Bridge Road will debut with a soft opening by the end of the month.
Patch caught a sneak peek of Historic Downtown Norcross' newest business, Farmhouse 17. The store, run by mother-and-daughter duo Sandra Brooks and Holly Isserstedt, carries home goods such as furniture and antiques, but it also will have specialty foods, jewelry and more. The location even has its own organic garden on the premises. While it's not open yet, the Holcomb Bridge store will officially debut in a soft opening on or after April 27, when it will host its first Moveable Feast, a five-course meal around a community table of acquaintances. In March, Sandra Brooks and Holly Isserstedt will debut Farmhouse 17 at the old Home Norcross shop off Holcomb Bridge Road.
Sometimes the similarities between a mother and daughter are uncanny. Enter Sandra Brooks and Holly Isserstedt. The mother and daughter both grew up in Mississippi and left the state as adults. Brooks was a single mother most of her daughter’s life, and Isserstedt is now a single mom with two children living in Norcross. While they've pursued separate careers, the two have worked together on and off, in Brooks' own marketing company and side-by-side at coffee shops. They've also had the same profession at different times: Isserstedt has been teaching at numerous schools in the metro Atlanta area for the last 15 years, and Brooks is a former educator.
