YMCA Receives $10,500 From Fundraiser Event

Proceeds from this year's Corners to Crossings races presented to Fowler Family YMCA.

Debbie Timm on behalf of the Corners to Crossing race committee presented a check on May 26 in the amount of $10,500 to the Fowler Family YMCA Partner With Youth campaign. The proceeds were collected from the The Corners to Crossing race, which began in 2008 as a way to bring together the two communities of Peachtree Corners and Norcross. This was the 4th annual race with more than 600 runners participating this year. "The annual Corners to Crossing race is a great fundraiser for the Y and great event for both communities," said Timm. This year’s race was run on Saturday, April 16, 2011. It is also a qualifying race for the Peachtree Road Race, which is held every July 4th. Question Popped on Corners to Crossing Runner

After crossing the finish line, a runner in the Corners to Crossing race got a big surprise.

When Katie Brown crossed the finish line of the Corners to Crossing race on Saturday, she was greeted by her boyfriend Alex Kirillov and some friends.  Brown, whose parents live in Historic Norcross, was asked to go for a stroll by her boyfriend, with their friends (and this stealth reporter) trailing close behind. She wasn't tipped off from the expectant crew--but as she was standing in front of the fountains on Lillian Webb, he took out a ring and asked her to marry him.  "I was so, so surprised," she said after giving a resounding, "Yes!" Brown said she was clued in that something might happen, since it is their anniversary week.  The couple had already decided that they would like to get married in Historic Norcross, so Kirillov …

Corners to Crossing and Life's A Beach Schedule

Hey, Norcross. Wondering where to be when? Here's the lowdown on Saturday's festivities.

The big day is upon us: The annual Corners to Crossing Race and Life's A Beach party! Here's a recap of what is happening when.  Please be sure to check out the road closures as well.  Corners to Crossing Race 8:00 a.m.--The 10K course starts at The Forum at 5155 Peachtree Parkway and meanders through Peachtree Corners and through the neighborhoods of historic Norcross.  7:30 a.m.--The 5K starts at Norcross First Baptist Church, 706 N. Peachtree and follows a similar course as the 10K as it moves through Norcross neighborhoods. 7:30a.m.--The 1 mile runs also starts at Norcross First Baptist Church, 706 N. Peachtree, right after the 5K.  It is run directly down N. Peachtree to the finish line. 9:15 a.m.--The ever-popular Tot Trot will be …

Get Out: Make a Plan for the Weekend

A weekend of summery fun awaits you.

So much to choose from this weekend: There's the annual road race and musical comeback and a night without kids just around the corner. Street Closings Saturday for Corners to Crossing Race

The big day is Saturday. Forget about driving and come join in the fun.

In order to protect the runners and walkers participating in the "Corners to Crossing Road Races," the following area will have limited or emergency access only for all vehicles on Saturday, April 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.:  Please adjust your travel plans accordingly during these time periods.  Emergency and limited access traffic will be available. Please follow detour signs and instructions from traffic directors at street barricades.  For any emergency, please dial 911 or the Norcross Police at 770-448-2111.  The City of Norcross and Norcross Neighbors thank you.
