A lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy organization in Chicago says Chick-fil-A will cease donations to groups that oppose gay marriage. In a Sept. 18 press release, The Civil Rights Agenda wrote that Alderman Moreno, the man who led the opposition in Chick-fil-A opening a restaurant in Chicago, "has confirmed that Chick-fil-A will no longer give money to anti-gay organizations and that they have clarified in an internal document that the company will treat every person equally, regardless of sexual orientation." Does this change your opinion on Chick-fil-A? Tell us in the comments. The release added that Chick-fil-A has sent an internal memo to franchises and stakeholders that states that as a company, they will “treat every …

Saddleback Church's Pastor Rick Warren says Dan Cathy claimed a new world record while local chains had to close early after running out of fresh chicken.
According to Pastor Rick Warren's Twitter feed, Dan Cathy, head of Chick-fil-A and son of founder Truett Cathy, called Pastor Rick Warren and claimed to have set a world record in sales: "@DanCathy just called me. #ChickfilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hours to go in the West. #outofchicken" Local restaurants were packed with people throughout the day, and the Snellville location on Scenic Highway had to close early. "We just couldn't keep up with the demand," said manager Kevin Kelliher. "We ran out of thawed chicken and people were having to wait 40 minutes for their meals." Various reports show long lines at multiple locations for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.
When Mike Huckabee declared Wednesday as Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day after President Dan Cathy of Chick-fil-A spoke out publicly against gay marriage, the former governor may not have expected restaurant locations to be swamped with customers. And Gwinnett locations were no different. The lines were long at the Jimmy Carter Boulevard location in unincorporated Norcross, and the Loganville location off Highway 78 had crowds so large that the police and fire officials were called in to help. The Snellville location also saw a huge rush of people, with cars overflowing into a nearby church and people parking as far as three businesses away. The Chick-fil-A in Suwanee saw a mass of people, too. Did you eat at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday? What …

Political sides in the same-sex marriage controversy have issued "calls to action" at the restaurant chain's outlets for Aug 1 and Aug. 3.
This could be an interesting week for Chick-fil-A, the Atlanta-based restaurant chain that recently has become a political battleground. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has called for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Aug. 1, and has set up a Facebook page to draw attention. And the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is backing a call for a National Same-Sex Kiss Day on Friday, Aug. 3, to be held at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide. The controversy, of course, comes from a statement by Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy, who supports the view of marriage as between a man and a woman. Dan Cathy, son of company founder Truman Cathy, said the fast-food giant was “guilty as charged” of supporting “the biblical definition of …

Bloggers have lit up the Internet, Twitter has been filled with opinions and celebrities have sworn to boycott the family-owned restaurant. In response, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos donated $2.5 million to help pass a same-sex referendum in Washington state. Even President Obama earlier this year, switched his stance on gay marriage saying publically that he condones unions between same-sex couples. What's your thoughts on business and political leaders speaking out publically on gay marriage? Will it affect where you dine, which Internet business you choose to do business with or who you vote …

They really didn't say they were going to stop funding the Anti-Gay groups....see Keith's copy of the statement above. However, even if they DID...I still would not support them because they are straddling the fence. You either believe and stand by your convictions or you don't. But you don't change just because you want to open a new restaurant in Chicago! I guess the almighty dollar won out …   more ›
