Vargas & Harbin Gallery Photographer to Expand Studio

Charlie Harbin is using the space next to the Norcross gallery to expand his photography business, Stop the Clock Photo.

Charlie Harbin of Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery is expanding his photography business, Stop the Clock Photo, by using the space next door to the gallery's South Peachtree Street location. The following message was posted on the studio's Facebook page: Charlie Harbin, Stop the Clock Photo, is moving his photography studio and production facility next door allowing a larger gallery experience for visitors to Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery. His photography enterprise is expanding to better serve his customers at 29 S Peachtree St, street level. There he continues his portrait, product and commercial work while shooting seniors, pets and events all around the Norcross area. African Jam Session at Norcross Gallery, for an Incredible Cause

Hear a nationally touring band do a special set, help a child in need.

Norcross resident Naima Abdullahi went on a morning walk during her recent visit to Bamako, Mali in West Africa, craving mangoes. What she found was a cause that she and her partner, Andrew Heller, have been rallying in support of for the last months. At a roadside fruit and vegetable stand, she heard a baby whimpering. It was Souleymane, a 2-year-old boy with retinoblastoma, or eye cancer. Adbdullahi, who works with refugees in the U.S., was from was deeply affected by her meeting, crying all the way back to their hostel and then resolving with Heller to help the boy with the rest of her vacation money.  She went to the hospital with his mother, who did not have the $150 for the visit. Celebrated Artists to Open Gallery in Historic Norcross

Vargas and Harbin Studio to open to the public in the next month.

Charles Harbin and Reinaldo Vargas couldn’t have more different backgrounds. Harbin worked in technology and recently came back to his true passion of photography. Vargas grew up a painter in Communist Cuba, then fled for France and the U.S.  One makes haunting landscape photography, the other passionate and imaginative paintings. But both inspired artists, who will soon have side-by-side studios at a new gallery at 27 S. Peachtree St., have a wonderful banter and balance. “We surprise each other,” said Harbin. “We have good symmetry.” Harbin said he got his first darkroom equipment when he was 12, probably his first camera at 10 or 11. “I annoyed people in the camera shop when I was growing up,” he laughed.
