Men Accused of Shooting at Police During Car Chase in Norcross

Two men have been arrested in the incident, which started after an armed robbery Saturday at the Waffle House off Goshen Springs Road.

Two men have been arrested in connection to firing shots at police officers during a car chase following an armed robbery at a Waffle House in Norcross. According to Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith and jail records, Tamari Adams, 24, of Norcross, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, fleeing or eluding police, two counts of aggravated assault, and multiple traffic violations. Tavares Douglas Harris, 25, of Lithonia, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, providing a false name to an officer and two counts of aggravated assault. They remain in jail without bond. Police Find $300K of Meth After Car Chase

The chase occurred near I-85 around the Beaver Ruin Road exit in the Norcross area.

A car chase Tuesday afternoon in unincorporated Norcross ended with authorities finding $300,000 worth of methamphetamine, according to WSBTV.com. Georgia State Patrol told the news station that they attempted to pull over a Jeep Cherokee traveling on I-85 South, but the driver didn't stop. Instead, he sped off when he saw the lights on the patrol's car. He got off the Beaver Ruin Road exit, crashed into another vehicle and landed in the Enterprise parking lot. Authorities found 15 pounds of meth in the Cherokee. Joel Martinez, the alleged driver and 32-year-old from Michoacan, Mexico, is being charged with drug trafficking and was taken to Gwinnett County Jail. UPDATED: Jesse Hiltner Leads Roswell Police on Two Car Chases Friday Morning

Media reports say Hiltner was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, but no police officers were hurt.

UPDATED: Friday, May 18 9:56 p.m. - Jesse Hiltner lead Roswell Police on not one, but two car chases during the early morning of Friday, May 18. The first chase began when police tried to pull Hiltner over for a traffic stop off Holcomb Bridge Road on Old Dogwood Road, near Ga. 400. Police were able to catch him with the use of a stun gun, after he lead them on a chase through a local hotel parking lot and abandoned his vehicle to try to get away on foot, said the Atlanta Journal Constitution. But Hiltner wasn't ready to go to jail quietly. Despite begin handcuffed, he managed to get into the front seat of a patrol car and drive away.
