Norcross Woman Dies From Car Crash

Shirley Jones, 86, passed away as a result of a two-vehicle collision in Lilburn on Sunday.

From Loganville Patch Norcross-area resident Shirley Jones, 86, died as a result of a two-vehicle crash accident Sunday in Lilburn. From the traffic fatality, Grayson resident James Earl White was charged Monday with vehicular homicide and failure to obey a stop sign. According to the report from Gwinnett County Police, White, 73, was driving a 2005 Lincoln Navigator when he stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Louis and Killian Hill roads in Lilburn. Jones, driving a 1992 Geo Prizm, was traveling north on Killian Hill Road when White pulled out in front of her, causing a collision. White and his passenger were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with minor injuries. Jones was transported to Emory Eastside Medical Center where she …

Norcross Officer Injured in Beaver Ruin Crash

The incident caused a major traffic jam Friday morning for an hour to an hour and a half.

A Norcross Police officer was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Beaver Ruin Road around 8:30 a.m. Friday, resulting in minor injuries for the officer. According to a press release, the accident occurred near the intersection of Norcross Parkway. Preliminary information shows that "the officer was eastbound on Beaver Ruin Road on routine patrol when a vehicle traveling westbound turned left into the path of the patrol unit," the release says. With minor injuries, the 43-year-old officer was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center as a precaution. The driver of the other vehicle was not transported. Major Accident Stalls Traffic on Beaver Ruin in Norcross

The accident on Beaver Ruin Road will cause traffic backups and detours for the next hour to hour and a half, according to a Nixle alert.

Updated, 10:13 a.m. The incident turned out to be an officer-involved accident on Beaver Ruin Road involving one other vehicle. The officer was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center for minor injuries. Hundreds Attend Johlonda Lindsey Funeral

Family and friends gathered Saturday to pay their respects to the Meadowcreek student who died in a car accident prom weekend.

Hundreds attended the Saturday funeral of Johlonda "FaFa" Larue Lindsey, the Meadowcreek High student who died in a car accident prom weekend. Family, friends, and Meadowcreek faculty and classmates gathered at New Mercies Christian Church in Lilburn on May 5 to pay their respects before the high school junior was finally laid to rest. "It's kind of hard to think anything good can come from this, but she's resting in God's hands," said Jonathan DuBose, who spoke in the service and sang "Just a Prayer Away." Lindsey, 16, died early Sunday morning in a car accident going to an after-prom party with classmates. This past week, the Norcross area saw two teen car accidents that have been disastrous to those involved. On Wednesday, April 25, Norcross High student Alex Mora was injured in a car-surfing accident off Beaver Ruin Road. The car overturned at one point and crushed Mora, causing him to be in a medically induced coma, according to police. And last Sunday, Meadowcreek High student Johlonda Lindsey died in a car wreck while going to an after-prom party with some friends. Four other students were injured, and the police report indicates speed as a factor in the collision. Meadowcreek Student to Be Laid To Rest Saturday

Johlonda Lindsey died last Sunday in a car wreck on the way to an after-prom party.

Johlonda Lindsey, the Meadowcreek High student who died in a car crash last weekend, will be laid to rest Saturday, according to 11Alive. According to the report, a viewing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, located at 914 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville. Update: Meadowcreek High Student Dies in Car Crash, Driver Arrested

The collision occurred on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Norcross.

Update, May 1, 10:30 a.m. DeJon Wideman was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with vehicular homicide, three counts of serious injury by vehicle, improper lane change and reckless driving, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department docket book. Norcross Man Dies in Traffic Accident

A fatal traffic accident occurred on Friday at about 6:45 a.m. in South Forsyth County. Michael Stanley Carter, 53, of Norcross was killed after running a red light and slamming into another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 9 and Pendley Road. According to Traffic Specialist Investigator Ron Tomblin with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Carter was traveling northbound on Highway 9 in a 2002 silver Honda Accord when he apparently ran a traffic light and struck a 2003 white Mitsubishi Montero. The Montero, driven by Vickie Cronan, 48, of Cumming was going to make a left-hand turn and travel south onto Highway 9 when she was hit on the front driver's side by Carter. South Georgia Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident

Accident occurred Saturday in unincorporated Norcross.

Gwinnett Police are investigating a pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of a south Georgia woman Saturday night in unincorporated Norcross. The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Buford Highway. Police say Sherri D. Parker of Thomasville, Ga., was struck by a black 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee as she walked south on Buford Highway, just south of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Parker died at the scene. According to a press release issued by Gwinnett Police, “It appears that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway in an area that does not have a marked crosswalk.” The driver of the Jeep, Jesus Cruz-Colmenares, 22, has not been charged, but the investigation continues, according …

Fatal Car Accident on I-85, Alcohol Suspected Factor

A 22-year-old died early Sunday morning in a collision that was the result of another accident, just inside Gwinnett County.

A car accident just 20 to 50 feet inside of Gwinnett County caused the death of a 22-year-old early Sunday morning. Alcohol is thought to have played a role in the collision, according to the Gwinnett County Police. Police say that around 3 a.m. a 22-year-old female stopped her Cadillac Deville in the HOV lane near Jimmy Carter Boulevard and I-85 due to a separate accident that occurred in Dekalb County, just outside the dividing line. Her car was hit from behind by a Mitsubishi Montero driven by Brayan Rivera, 23. A passenger, Joshua Keith, 22, was in the Cadillac.  Both Rivera and Keith were taken to the hospital, where Keith later died as a result of the injuries, according to the police release.  Editor's note: This article originally …
