The Bulldogs and Blue Devils will face each other for the Class AAAAAA title this Saturday in the state championships.
Making the No. 25 spot last week, the Norcross High girls basketball team finally make it on MaxPreps' national ranking list. After defeating Langston Hughes 62-16 in the semifinals last Saturday, the Lady Blue Devils have climbed up two spots on the list and are now ranked at No. 23. Thing is, the state championships for the Class AAAAAA title is this Saturday, March 9, and Norcross is playing against North Gwinnett, who ranks No. 5. Here's what MaxPreps had to say about the Norcross girls: The one time Norcross beat No. 5 North Gwinnett, it was a 47-29 rout. The losses were by 15 and five so, even though the teams have played three times, there's no pattern that predicts who should win the AAAAAA title game Saturday. Guess we'll just …

Because Delta Air Lines is changing its flight schedule just to make sure UGA fans get to Columbia, Missouri, in time for the Tigers' inaugural SEC game. It will be a learning process. Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph reports the two teams are virtual strangers. Neither squad even has a scholarship player from the other's state. Georgia head coach Mark Richt did interview for the Missouri job more than a decade ago, but the teams' only previous matchup was in 1960. At least one Missouri player isn't that impressed with what he's seen of Georgia so far. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson told a reporter he watched some of the Georgia-Buffalo game last week, then turned it off. "It's …

Updated 5:06 a.m., Sept. 24, 2011 The seventh-ranked North Gwinnett Bulldogs (4-1) dominated the Meadowcreek Mustangs (0-5) 71-6 Friday night in Suwanee. From the opening kickoff to the final touchdown with 14 seconds left, the Bulldogs controlled the game. North scored 10 touchdowns — one of which came on defense — and a safety, and took advantage of multiple Meadowcreek turnovers. The only chink in the Bulldogs' armor was their special teams. The Bulldogs had a PAT blocked and the Mustangs ran a kickoff return back 98 yards for a touchdown. The Mustangs had another kickoff return for a touchdown called back by a personal foul. The scoring started with Scotty Hosch throwing a touchdown to Joseph Jones on the opening drive. After that the …

Finally! It’s September – which means it’s time for a college football road trip.
Ok, so if you are a fan of Georgia Tech, then head south to Atlanta, take a run by The Varsity for a chili dog with cheese – or whatever it is that Georgia Tech fans eat other than crow on Thanksgiving weekend - and have fun, if that’s what they call it there. As for our house, we bleed either burnt orange and white or red ‘n black – which means it’s time to either Hook ‘em Horns! or Gooooooo, Dawgs! Sic ‘em…woof, woof, woof! Yeah, we’re a house unified - unless The University of Texas and The University of Georgia end up on the same gridiron. But we shall not speak of such apocolyptic disasters. And since UGA is a lot closer and it’s football season, a trip to the UGA Arches is in order. Keep in mind, there’s a lot more to do in Athens …
