Duluth to Screen Anti-Bullying Film

District 3 Gwinnett Board of Education candidate Jen Falk will present a showing of award-winning movie 'Bully' at AMC Theater at Discover Mills and program at Red Clay Theatre in Duluth.

There will be a showing of the award-winning movie “Bully” at the AMC Theater at Discover Mills in Lawrencevllle at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Jen Falk, a candidate for the District 3 post on the Gwinnett Board of Education, procured the film for the showing in Gwinnett County. “Ninety-seven percent of middle school students say they have been bullied while online, and 1 out of 4 teens are bullied every day,” said Falk in a press release. NHS Graduate Receives National Merit Scholarship

Ryan Ward of Norcross High joins the pool of 16 recipients from Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Norcross High 2012 graduate Ryan C. Ward has joined the pool of Gwinnett County Public Schools recipients of the 2012 National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship. Ward, along with two other GCPS graduates, recently learned that their prospective colleges have selected them to receive between $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study. Approximately 2,000 students throughout the nation were named this week as NMCS Scholarship winners, according to a press release. Thirteen other Gwinnett students were named scholarship winners last spring. Kroger Collecting School Supplies

The grocery store is serving as a drop-off site for essential school supplies for homeless children in metro Atlanta during its two-week ‘Back 2 School’ campaign.

Norcross-area Kroger stores are collecting book bags and school supplies for homeless children in metro Atlanta. Kroger’s Atlanta Division, in partnership with the Children’s Restoration Network and WSB-TV, is conducting its 18th annual “Back 2 School” campaign July 16 through July 28. During the two-week drive, 125 Kroger stores will serve as school supply drop-off sites to benefit metro Atlanta children.  The Children Restoration Network’s Back 2 School program will distribute the book bags and school supplies to homeless children.
