Police Looking for Suspected Serial Rapist Near Beaver Ridge Elementary

The Gwinnett SWAT team attempted to serve an arrest warrant behind the Norcross-area school Thursday morning for Joseph Tyler Sivonda, who is wanted on multiple counts of armed robbery, aggravated sodomy and rape.

Update, 4:20 p.m.: Sivonda is still at large, according to Gwinnett Police. ------ Updated, 5:20 p.m. Gwinnett County Police are looking for a man wanted on multiple counts of armed robbery, sodomy and rape near Beaver Ridge Elementary in the Norcross area. A SWAT team attempted to serve an arrest warrant just behind the school in Bradford Gwinnett Apartments at 100 Castor Dr. on Thursday morning (May 2) for Joseph Tyler Sivonda, 23. Although he lives in the apartment complex, the wanted suspect was not present and is still at large, according to Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith. Waffle House in Norcross Robbed Twice in Same Week

Inside the Police Reports: Police believe the same suspects are responsible for both crimes and may be linked to six other robberies in DeKalb.

Police believe the same suspects are responsible for robbing the same Waffle House in Norcross twice last week, in addition to other robberies in the metro area. On Saturday (April 20), Gwinnett police say an armed man robbed the 6079 Goshen Springs restaurant and then fled the scene in a getaway car driven by another man. They fired shots at officers while they followed the two men on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. No one was injured, and the suspects, later identified as Tavares Douglas Harris and Tamari Adams, stopped at the Home Depot near Lawrenceville Highway where police apprehended them. On the previous Sunday (April 14), a man walked into the same Waffle House around 8:45 p.m. and robbed it, too, according to the Norcross Police report. …

Suspects in Restaurant Stickup Share Similarities With Other Norcross Robberies

Inside the Police Reports: All incidents involved three armed Hispanic male suspects who wore all black and left each scene on foot. One of the suspects also had a backpack to carry the cash from the robberies.

A week after an ice cream shop and gas station in unincorporated Norcross said they were robbed, another armed robbery by a similar set of suspects was reported around the corner. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the most recent incident occurred at 10 p.m. Feb. 16 at China Cooks Restaurant, located at 1250 Tech Dr. in Suite 230. The victims, a family of four ranging from 66 to 19 years old, told officers that three armed men entered the business and robbed them at gunpoint while they were working behind the counter. Two of the suspects approached the counter and demanded money. The family gave cash from the register and the son's wallet to the suspect carrying a backpack. Norcross Ice Cream Shop, Gas Station Robbed in Same Night

An ice cream shop and a gas station less than a mile apart were robbed the same evening in unincorporated Norcross. Ranging from the ages of 34 to 6, employees and customers who were present at La Mejor de Michoacan, the ice cream shop located at 1461 Pirkle Road, told Gwinnett County Police that unknown men came into the store and robbed the place around 9:05 p.m. Feb. 9. According to the victims, witnesses and surveillance coverage, three men approached the front door of the store. One man entered the store with a pointed pistol in hand and told an employee, who'd been watching TV in the back, to open the cash register. Robbery Suspect's Demand Note Says 'I Need $20,000 Please & Thank You'

Inside the Police Reports: The male suspect, who had four similar notes up his sleeve in addition to a large kitchen knife, is accused of attempting to rob a Norcross check cashing business, according to police.

Norcross Police arrested an attempted armed robbery suspect at a bus stop off Beaver Ruin Road after a nearby check cashing business reported that someone had tried to rob them. The accused Norcross man, Q. Somah Paygai, who was positively identified by the victim, an employee of Atlanta Check Cashers, had a large kitchen knife and demand notes that police found up his sleeve, according to the incident report. The notes read: A similar note to the $300 demand was given to the employee at the cashing business, located at 1995 Indian Trail Road. The victim told police that Paygai entered the business at around 7 p.m. one Thursday, stepped up to her window and stated that he wanted to cash a check. News Nearby: Grayson Students Arrested in Homicide of 14-Year-Old

Police believe robbery was the objective.

Gwinnett County Police Department announced Friday that three teens have been arrested in connection with the Dec. 19 murder of Paul Sampleton, 14, of Grayson. Officials say all three were fellow students at Grayson High School. Arrested and in custody are Larnell Sillah, 15, charged with homicide, Romaine Stewart, 18, and Achiel Morgan, 15, both charged with armed robbery. Sillah and Morgan have both been charged as adults, according to officials. "Detectives believe the motive for this crime was robbery," GCPD spokesman Jake Smith said in a press release. Gwinnett Man Charged With Armed Robbery, Hit and Run

Brandon Chance Ennis was arrested on five charges for two separate incidents, one of which took place at a Norcross-area apartment complex.

A man was arrested last Thursday in connection to two separate incidents of a hit and run and an armed robbery, which took place in unincorporated Norcross. In addition to the robbery and hit and run charges, 18-year-old Brandon Chance Ennis, of Lawrenceville, has been charged with following too closely, violation of probation, and driving while license suspended or revoked. According to the Gwinnett Police reports, the armed robbery involved two cousins who ran into Ennis at a party at Highland Walk Apartments in the Norcross area. While walking to the party, they were confronted by Ennis, whom they'd never met before. He asked who they were and what they were doing there. A Subway restaurant in Norcross was robbed during business hours earlier this month. According to the Norcross Police report, the incident occurred Thursday, Jan. 3, at the fast-food chain located at 2055 Beaver Ruin Road. The employee told police that an armed man entered the restaurant at 7:15 p.m., went to the front counter and demanded money. She removed the cash drawer and placed it on the counter in front of the suspect. He grabbed the money and ran out the door toward Pinnacle Pointe. Responding officers searched the surrounding area and interviewed employees at the adjacent businesses. Suspect Points Gun at Baby in Norcross Home Invasion

Inside the Police Reports: Three women told Norcross Police they were robbed in their Western Hills Drive home last Saturday night.

The victim of a Norcross home invasion reported that one of the suspects put a gun against her infant's head during his demands for money. According to the Norcross Police report, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. last Saturday, Dec. 29, on the 5900 block of Western Hills Drive near North Norcross Tucker Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Police arrived on scene to three women and one baby in hysterics in the living room. The woman with the infant told police that she was in the back bedroom when she heard someone knocking at the front door. After a few knocks, the front door was forced opened, causing one side of the door trim to break off, and three men with guns came into the home. Woman's Purse Taken in Armed Robbery at Peachtree Corners Apartment

An armed robbery in the complex's parking lot involved a handgun and $15 cash.

A woman visiting the area from Sandy Springs reported being robbed at gunpoint near the 300 block of Ashley Lakes Drive in Peachtree Corners on Dec. 22. The victim told police she had just descended the stairs of an apartment complex and was walking toward the parking lot when she was approached by a man wearing dark clothing. The victim stated in a Gwinnett County police report that the man placed a handgun to her head while ordering her to hand over her purse. The victim gave her purse to the suspect, who ran toward the back of the complex. The police report indicated that the purse contained $15 in cash, a driver's license and credit cards.
