Basketball: Norcross Schools Head to State Playoffs

Boys and girls teams for Meadowcreek, Norcross and GAC will compete in the AAAAAA and AA tournaments, which start Tuesday.

Last week's basketball games determined the seeding for the state playoffs that begin Tuesday, and basketball teams from Norcross schools are competing. Both the girls and boys teams for Norcross High and Greater Atlanta Christian, in addition to the boys for Meadowcreek High, are headed to the tournament. After the girls' loss against Wesleyan 67-48 last Friday, GAC will play at home against Dade County in the AA game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Also on the Spartan's home turf, the boys team will compete against Coosa at 6 p.m. Wednesday. All the other teams also will play Wednesday in Class AAAAAA. For Norcross, the Lady Blue Devils will play at home against South Forsyth at 6 p.m. The girls team lost last week against North Gwinnett 58-53 and…

Gwinnett Teams Dominate AAAAAA Football Playoffs

Seven schools from AAAAAA still are active in the second round -- and nine from Gwinnett overall.

After the first week of the 2012 AAAAAA high school football playoffs, one thing is clear -- Gwinnett County football is coming up big. Seven teams from the county still are alive in the AAAAAA playoffs' Sweet Sixteen phase. And in Friday's second round, three games will match up Gwinnett teams. -- How do you think the AAAAAA playoffs will shake out? Tell us in the comments below. In second-round action, North Gwinnett will travel to defending state champ Grayson, Brookwood visits Mill Creek, and South Gwinnett visits Norcross. Parkview travels outside the county to take on West Forsyth (of 6-AAAAAA).
