Dr. Joseph Emmett Henderson, 85, a veteran of World War II and a Baptist pastor of three churches, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19th, 2013. A native of Georgia, Dr. Henderson was married to the former Margaret Mann for 67 years. During World War II, Dr. Henderson served in the Navy, specifically in the Philippines where he was stationed at the Guiuan J. S. Naval Base located on the island of Samar. After his discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at the University of Georgia, graduating with a Bachelor of Commercial Science degree with honors in 1950. He then enrolled in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon graduating from Seminary in 1953, Emmett was called to pastor Norcross First …

Michael Scott Hudgens, 64, of Duluth, a philanthropist and son of the late Gwinnett developer Scott Hudgens Jr., passed away Feb. 6. The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home, located at 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Peachtree Corners. Mr. Hudgens attended the University of Georgia and was a retired U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed his family, being with friends and working on the family farm, where he spent most of his time. Philip D. Saunders, 64, of Norcross, Ga., passed away November 5 at St. Joseph's Hospital, after a long and valiant battle with bladder cancer. Philip was born June 27, 1948 in Bournemouth Dorset, England, to the late Dennis and Hilda (Core) Saunders. Philip was president and owner of AgriBusiness International Inc. Philip also sat on the board and was co-chair of the Events Commitee of the Atlanta chapter of the British American Business Group. Philip was a loving husband and father, who put family first. He enjoyed spending time with his two English Pointers, and he also was an avid gardener, and an active volunteer in the city of Norcross. A true friend to all who knew him. He was born Nov 2 in Aurora, CO, to Byron Winfield and Eleanor Jean Comolli Brown of Greenville, OH. He and his two brothers, Bruce Allen Brown, Manhattan Beach, CA, and Gary Lee Brown, Centralia, WA, moved with their parents to Army posts in Ft. Sam Houston, TX, Ft. Belvoir, VA, and Japan. After a months-long battle, Hannah Rinehart died this morning at 4:15.
Hannah Rinehart, wife of South Gwinnett math teacher Mark Rinehart, passed away this morning at 4:15 a.m. "She is celebrating," Mark wrote on a Facebook page in her honor, "and I am thankful for God allowing me to have the privilege of being her husband while she was here on this Earth. Family was present, and when Hannah was ready to go, she left quickly." Hannah, 32, was a patient care technician in DeKalb County. She and Mark lived in Decatur. She contracted a bacterial infection the last weekend of June which resulted in blood poisoning. Complications led to the amputations of both hands and feet, but the biggest challenge was fluid in her lungs. Yesterday, doctors told the family that she was very, very tired.
