Hired! Jeremie: A Career Profile

Jeremie was a member of our very first group of participants at Simply Biz.  He joined us as we were in true start up mode and became one of the examples of teamwork, cooperation, and friendliness that all subsequent participants learned from in the coming months.

During his first several weeks with Simply Biz, Jeremie made it known that his goal was to work at Kroger.  Even as he had ample opportunities to explore a very wide variety of other job settings along with his Biz peers, he never wavered from this specific goal. Along the way, he practiced transferable skills in a variety of settings, well-liked everywhere he went.  Jeremie commonly served as a greeter or "point-man" during WOW and Simply Biz events.  To this day, he excels at making others feel welcome and comfortable.

However, it wasn’t an easy road for Jeremie.  He lives outside of area transportation coverage zones, so his placement required a specific match of available opportunities with appropriate location accessibility.  Upon reaching the “Biz Pro” stage where participants focus on the employment search, Jeremie fine tuned his skills and qualifications as he diligently ventured into the community for interviews with Simply Biz support staff.  Although it took longer to find employment for Jeremie than we hoped, neither he nor his support staff gave up.  While Simply Biz and WOW remained committed to finding the right employment situation for Jeremie, he continued to practice and prepare thoroughly.  In the end, it paid off.

Following plenty of legwork and coordination with WOW staff, Jeremie found a great situation at an area Kroger grocery store.  After a successful interview, he was soon hired and now maintains a weekly schedule.  According to Employment Specialist Raquel Smith, “He’s a big hit. He’s received compliments for his professionalism and his supervisors are requesting that he work additional hours." All of the extra hours and energy invested in finding the right employment location and situation proved to be essential in setting up Jeremie with an accessible and promising position.

We couldn’t be prouder of Jeremie and the example he has set for all others who are striving for career success!
