Norcross Dog Saved by 'Angels'

It is currently undergoing extensive surgery, thanks to the outpouring of support from the community.

Last night around 5:30 p.m., Karin Wallace was leaving work when she got a call. A small, white dog was severely injured in a Norcross apartment complex.

It would be a pretty routine call for Wallace, who works for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and often gets calls about strays. But she was absolutely floored when the caller sent her a photo of the dog. Half of the little dog’s face was literally torn off. He was left for dead in the parking lot.

They’ve given him the name Erik, after the character in “Phantom of the Opera.”

Wallace found that the dog would require extensive surgeries and put his story up on the Angels’ Facebook page. “He is so happy despite his pain. He doesn't seem to be embarrassed that he is missing half his face. He just licked the vet staff and wagged his little tail,” Wallace wrote.

The community poured out their support, with 185 people sharing the story with their friends and 130 people commenting on the story, many mentioning that they made a donation for Erik’s surgeries.

To donate to Erik’s treatment, go to angelsrescue.org then click the donations tab. In the remarks field, type “Erik.”  Erik is currently being sheltered by Angels, according to Gwinnett County Animal Control rules, to see if his owner will come forward.
