ICU Mobile Atlanta: 'Taking it to the Streets'

Mobile clinics uniquely fitted to perform as mobile ministries are the latest innovation in the pregnancy center movement. Like their brick and mortar ‘siblings’, these mobile ultrasound clinics are faith based, life affirming ministries providing an invaluable service in the local community.

Based in Akron, Ohio, ICU Mobile leads the way nationally in equipping others to others to take their mission ‘to the streets’. ICU Mobile (pronounced "I See You”) goes directly into communities with the highest abortion rates. Their trained professionals are committed to reaching women, saving the preborn and sharing the love of Christ.

Locally, ICU Mobile Atlanta, plans to do just that. A joint venture of several established metro Atlanta pregnancy centers – The HOPE Center (Woodstock), Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of Atlanta, and A Beacon of Hope (Johns Creek and Decatur) the team will work to provide free pregnancy tests and limited ultrasound services in six strategic metro Atlanta locations.

ICU Mobile also partners with well-established pro-life organizations such as: The Family Research Council, Care Net and Heartbeat International. The National Institute of Family Life Advocates (NIFLA) helps ICU Mobile navigate complex medical laws and regulations.

The ICU Mobile client testimonials are powerful – stories of lives saved and lives impacted for Christ…

In Alabama, Caroline, just out of prison, was struggling with drug abuse. Impacted by the ultrasound image of her preborn child, she said, “I still have to have an abortion.” In the end, she chose life and remains a drug-free mom today.

In Tennessee, a woman had an abortion already scheduled but had a free ultrasound anyway. That weekend, with the mobile ultrasound clinic parked in front of the abortion facility, this young woman changed her mind and courageously chose life by making an adoption plan for her baby.

After extensive training, much planning and prayer, the ICU Mobile Atlanta team is now hitting the streets in our communities, providing free pregnancy tests and ultrasound services in six strategic metropolitan Atlanta locations.

Pregnancy centers across the country do a mighty work in their communities educating women and men from all walks of life. Like the traditional land-based pregnancy centers, mobile ultrasound clinics will often encounter challenges, such as the need for:

  • Funding
  • Staffing
  • Ongoing training
  • Vehicle maintenance and operational issues

Mobile ultrasound services are a valuable extension of traditional pregnancy centers, however, and help life advocates reach women in the communities where they live – and make a difference for LIFE! Watch for updates on the ICU Mobile Atlanta team in the near future as they take their message of life and hope ‘to the streets’.
