Miss Right to Life Pageants - One of a Kind!

This summer, the fourth annual Miss Right to Life Georgia Scholarship and Benefit Pageant will be held on August 3rd and 4th at the John Burd Center in Gainesville, Georgia. Located at Brenau University in Gainesville, the Burd Center is a stunningly beautiful facility with stone statues and stained glass windows – perfect for a pageant of beautiful young girls, inside and out!

Amy Brown, the pageant director, has more than 12 years of experience in the pageantry business – as a contestant, a judge, an emcee and now as director of the Miss Right to Life of Georgia pageants.   “We are not your average beauty pageant,” Amy says.

Indeed.   Miss Right to Life of Georgia is the first and only of its kind in the country.  The concept of a pageant may be a hard pill to swallow for some people, and perhaps, rightly so. There can be some problems:  big hair, too much makeup, fake teeth, scanty outfits and spray on tans, to name a few.

Miss Right to Life of Georgia, however, is a unique pageant program with a heavy emphasis on personal interviews and a heart of service.  The pageants also build interview skills, confidence, self esteem and self worth.  In fact, they create a ‘sisterhood’ of young women that stand for life issues across the state!

A few years ago, Amy Brown had a vision.  A recent graduate of North Georgia College & State University, Amy hoped to impact the prolife movement and begin a pageant legacy that stands for inner beauty as much as outer beauty.  She designated all proceeds from the pageant go to benefit Georgia Right to Life. 

Our young girls, she thought, need to be mentored and nurtured in life issues.  She firmly believes that the future of babies in this nation rests in their hands.  Are they prolife?  Are their friends pro life?  Do they feel comfortable and confident defending their beliefs to their peers? Above all, she hopes to offer prolife young women throughout Georgia an opportunity to use their God given talents to positively impact the lives of others.

Amy admits to the problems some have with the idea of pageants. “I get it,” Amy says. “I really do.”

Amy and her dedicated Board of Directors, Amarinda Trear, Lesley Wigley, Megan Powell, and Arielle Hunsucker, hope to dispel the negative stereotype associated with beauty pageants. If done genuinely with a true heart of service, they say ‘pageant’ should be one of the easiest pills you've ever swallowed.

Georgia Right to Life agrees.  If Miss Right to Life pageants impact our girls in a positive way and teach them the truth about life issues, then this is certainly something we can support.  So, go ahead.  Pass the glass of water.
