Wrestlers From Norcross Schools Place in Georgia State Tournament

Eight players from Greater Atlanta Christian, Meadowcreek High and Norcross High took spots in the state wrestling championship Saturday.

Out of the 11 wrestlers competing from Greater Atlanta Christian, Norcross High and Meadowcreek High, eight placed in the Georgia High School Association Traditional Wrestling Championships in Macon on Saturday.

Here are the students who placed:

Meadowcreek (Class AAAAAA)
Rene Deluna, fourth, 132 pounds
Ryan Moore, fifth, 182 pounds

Norcross (Class AAAAAA)
Rudy Guillen, fifth, 138 pounds

Greater Atlanta Christian (Class AA)
Carter Clineball, second, 132 pounds
Kyle Politz, third, 120 pounds
Trent Scates, third, 138 pounds
Hunter Hemmings, fourth, 106 pounds
Brandon Bradley, fourth, 113 pounds

Overall, Archer High School sealed the deal in the tournament, with four of the Tigers’ seven weight-class finalists won individual titles, according results available on the Atlanta Takedown Association website, giving the Gwinnett County school its second Class AAAAAA wrestling championship of the season.

Archer, which won the state dual tournament in January, finished with 250 team points, more than double the points earned by second-place Collins Hill, which finished with 118.5 points. Camden County was third with 117.5 points. North Gwinnett was fifth.
