Prado To Play for Gwinnett Braves

Versatile player to begin rehab assignment Wednesday.

Another big-name player from the Atlanta Braves is going to get some playing time in Gwinnett.

Infielder-outfielder Martin Prado was optioned to the G-Braves on Wednesday on an injury-rehab assignment and will be in uniform for Wednesday night's game in Charlotte.

Prado has hit .277 in 64 games for Atlanta this season. He was diagnosed with a staph infection on June 9.

Julio Teheran (9-1, 1.79 ERA) will start on the mound for Gwinnett on Wednesday in Charlotte.

The thunderstorm that struck the Gwinnett County area Tuesday night played havoc with the Gwinnett Braves' game at Coolray Field. The Durham Bulls were ahead, 3-1, in the sixth inning when the game was halted and eventually called.

Gwinnett (46-39) and Durham are tied for first in the International League South.

G-Braves pitcher Todd Redmond (5-8) allowed two home runs in the fifth inning that turned out to be the decisive blows. Matt Young drove in Ruben Gotay with for the only G-Braves run.
