Norcross Snaps Two-Game Skid with 48-21 Win

Alvin Kamara's three early TDs pace Blue Devils to victory over Meadowcreek.

Norcross got back into the win column by beating a feisty Meadowcreek squad 48-21 Friday night at Mustang Stadium.

Running back Alvin Kamara powered the Blue Devils with 98 yards and three scores in the first half as Norcross improved to 6-2, 3-2 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Kamara's hard-nosed style was a problem for Meadowcreek early, with the junior tearing off a 50-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage. Kamara scored the next Blue Devil six from 8 yards away and it looked like a long night for the home team.

Wide receiver Jason Croom got involved in the scoring next, snagging a Bo Swanson pass and going 41 yards for a touchdown.

As Norcross seemingly scored at will, Meadowcreek struggled on offense. More specifically, the snap to the quarterback, which were sketchy at best in the first half.

Kamara scored his third touchdown of the night from 10 yards out, making the score 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Norcross' special teams made a big play, blocking punter Ever Meajivar's effort and recovering in the end zone to extend the lead.

Down by 41 at half, the Mustangs rode the wave of emotion from the halftime Senior Night ceremony and played an inspired half of football.

With most of the Blue Devils starters resting on the bench, Meadowcreek went to the passing game for its first score.

Sophomore quarterback Ridwan Issahaku found RayQuan Sam in the corner of the endzone on an impromptu fade pattern. The Mustang defense recovered a fumble on the ensuing Blue Devil drive, getting the ball at the 45-yard line.

Issahaku led Meadowcreek to a touchdown in three plays, the score coming on an 7-yard out-route to tight end Kaleb Ross.

Any Mustang momentum as quickly ceased as Norcross struck right back with a 60-yard touchdown run by junior Jordan Dooley.

The Mustangs offense produced more fireworks on their last drive of the night.

Under pressure as he was most of the game, Issahaku threw up a floating pass which wideout Chandler McCoy caught over two Norcross DBs at the Blue Devil 15. After a 13-yard slant to McCoy, Issahaku scored on a QB sneak to make the final score 48-21.

The 21 points scored by the Mustangs marks their highest offensive output since 2008.

Norcross will host Collins Hill at Blue Devil Stadium next Friday while the Mustangs will seek their first win of the year as they travel to Mountain View.
