GAC Athlete Named Gatorade State Girls Soccer Player of the Year

The student athlete is the first from Greater Atlanta Christian School to receive the honor.

A graduating senior at Greater Atlanta Christian School has been named Gatorade's state girls Soccer Player of the Year.

This week Gatorade announced that honoree as Rachel Garcia, a forward at Greater Atlanta Christian School.

While being a powerful soccer player, having helped lead her team to a state championship this past season, Garcia also has maintained a 4.01 average, according to a press release from Gatorade.

In addition to sports, she is involved in community service, including working at a homeless shelter, mission trips and youth soccer.

She plans to attend University of Georgia in the fall on an athletic scholarship.

Named earlier this year, other players of the year from Gwinnett are:

  • Josh Brickell, a Peachtree Ridge High cross country runner
  • Lexie Brown, a North Gwinnett High basketball player
