Norcross High's Lorenzo Carter is one of six high school footballers from Georgia participating in this week's The Opening.
The Opening is a Nike showcase for the nation's top college football recruits, and gives the athletes a chance to highlight their skills on a big stage. It takes place June 30 - July 3 at the Nike headquarters in Oregon.
There are six teams compiled, and Carter is on team "Superbad." As part of The Opening's event, Carter will be going for the SPARQ athletic championship on July 1.
Before heading to Oregon, Carter said this on Twitter:
"Bouta go out to Oregon for @TheOpening_2013..No choice but to turn up! Show em what @Norcross_FB is about and why Gwinnett runs the state!!"
Although the 230-pound Carter is sought by numerous college football programs, he has yet to make a decision.

"Carter posted the top SPARQ Rating for a defensive lineman this year at the Nike events. Ranked as the No. 3 player in the country by 247 Sports, Carter has offers from over 30 universities including his early leaders of Georgia Tech, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Ohio State. As a junior he was a MaxPreps All-American and a 6A All-State honoree after recording 136 tackles with 18 sacks."
